I was working and finishing up on a training program today and before calling it quits, I decided to make a few short video-casts demonstrating some typical text treatments, message board Posters can employee in their post. These videos are far from professional, I just simply created them on the fly, so please bear with many pauses and ahhhhs and my hay fever nasal voice.

The videos feature various text effects such as Bold type, Color type, the combinations of Bold and Color and finally the Clickable Link (Live Hyper-Links). I have posted text explanations in the past, but very few used the effects. I though a video tutorial might be better understood. Later I will also tackle Photo-posting, however it is a little more involved so it will take more time then "just on the fly". The four videos listed below run about six minutes each.

See the YouTube links below for a larger video or further down for the smaller:

OR go to my "Channel" where all my PT videos are posted including these tutorial videos: http://www.youtube.com/rjwgdi/

I've also added a player from YouTube below, rather then navigating to the actual YouTube website, these will play in the post. However many times they become lost or missing so the links above are probably better, Plus you seem natively in a larger size when clicking on the YouTube links above.

Dick, I'm with Will, thanks sir. I really like the click link that is going to be really handy. I have to admit, stupid me, i never knew you could drag your mouse across the text and copy and paste it, neat trick. Does that also work on other web places? I've been opening 2 web windows reading one then going to the other and typing in the link from one to another. This link thing will really help if we all use it. thanks again my friend.

Hi Dick, I forgot to thank you for helping me better understand the photo posting. I think others will look forward to the instructional video when you finish it.

Thanks for the tutorial Dick! I've wondred how to do that but never took the time to figure it out.

Class! We're supposed to show our instructor what we learned!

Here's a link to one of my favorite modeling sites. It's http://www.Modelwarships.com

Now for extra credit. I wonder if this works. I often see words that are hyper links. You see it in wikipedia all the time. For example if you want the word PT Boat to take you to a link you can make it so you can click on it. So in this line let's see if PT Boat will take us to the wikipedia URL.

Cross fingers... I hope this works!

Dick, how do you write code as text? For example if I wanted to demonstrate the code for making a word a hyper link, how would I write that without it turning into a hyper link itself?

Boy, if this isn't a leap of faith!!

Yes! It worked!! Click on the picture will take you to the article on the 109 in Modelwarships.com. Now if I can figure out how to make the picture smaller.

David . . . .

Okay, okay, You've impressed the instructor and your new Message Board status will be changed from Premium Member to the new category "Smarty Pants Member". It use to be "know-it-all" but I thought that was a little to politically incorrect and a twinge derogatory. However . . .

Great job David, and I had not thought of creating demo vids for the two items you brought up in your posts. But now that you showed-off, I might have to.

For non-interested, non-technical readers, you may find the following boring and actually senseless, you may wish to skip, unless you wish to torturer yourself:

"Want to demonstrate code" - The problem on this board's software is trying to demo something by showing typical text coding. The coding will always show up as and execute the command, unless you put a space right after a command brackets like " [ " or " < ". However sometimes some strange result will occur. If you attempt to type in descriptive text between the brackets to avoid a link, the program will automatically place in the basic directory for this message board, which also mess up your post. Earlier on I used screen captures and posted them as images into the board, but that turned out to be less than satisfactory. Many individuals had too much trouble understanding a text described instruction. This is what let me to attempt a video of actually performing the demonstration of coding. I've always been a visual guy rather then a reading guy and my thought of seeing it done rather then reading was always much, much easier. You can always try to use a standard parenthesis rather then the square brackets or greater then/less then key symbols - but then explain to the reader to replace the parenthesis with the actual bracket style appropriate for the code.

End of the non-sensical stuff, back to regular reading.

With all respect, thanks David for being brave enough to try out the coding and specially for diving deeper in for other coding techniques. Lesson-Well-Done.

I hope everyone will attempt just one of the coding samples and post its result in this message boar thread.

Dick . . .
