Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water, another project surfaces. Stan Pienkowski has agreed to scratch build a 1/32 scale PT-10 for my Exhibit. The wonderful plans from AL ROSS are on the way, so Sunday Stan and I should be sitting down to discuss our battle plans. I have already ordered the .50 caliber machine guns, and was hoping they might have torpedo tubes as well. Garth Connelly put me in touch with a company who carries torpedo tubes, but only for the 80Ft. Elco. This will be a totally scratch built project from Al's plans, so it should be exciting as it takes shape. I have always wanted to include the very first Elco 70 footer off the assembly line in my collection of boats, so now here she comes. I think the biggest thing might be the true breakdown of colors for this boat, but I am sure we will have this straightened out soon........................I thought about the base being the Elco Cradle, your thoughts on this guys.

Hi Frank and Al and Stan,
Just in case it might be helpful, the HNSA website http://www.hnsa.org/doc/pt/turret/index.htm has the technical manual for the Dewandre 50 cal gun turret. It has diagrams and etc for the air and hydraulic operating systems. If you wanted to super detail the inside of the gun turrets this may come in handy! Here is one of the sketches from there. Jerry
Thanks so much for this information, which I am sure Stan will be happy to look at. Anything he can get his hands on he can build, and the turret details will be very important to this model...........

Hey Frank
Whats nice about this project is that it is NOT A DIORAMA. Although I love them, they take too long to build, and take up space. PT-10 will be just the boat this time on a special stand with glass case. Al Ross's plans have not shown up yet, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed they wil get here Saturday morning. The next projects will again be the boats alone, and might just feature the least talked about PT BOAT, the HUCKINS.............

PT-10 Plans from AL ROSS did come in the mail this afternoon, and they are awesome. I would recommend anyone looking to build this boat to order a set of plans from Al. He has a great selection of plans on hand. I also blew up the 13 figures from the DEWANDRE TURRET MANUAL as suggested by AL and JERRY GILMARTIN. There is a good amount of detail inside these turret's and at 1/32 scale you would have no problem seeing this. Paint scheme has been worked out and ordered, so STAN will be at the work bench with this project shortly. Last piece of the puzzle is how I would like the boat to sit on the base. As I had mentioned I was thinking of having STAN build a CRADLE, but this is undecided...............

Made it to Stans house this morning, despite the slippery roads and some Snow that fell over the evening hours. Funny, I got there a bit too early and Stan was still plowing out his drive-way with the whole Family. They have one hell of a good system. Stan has a riding Lawnmower, with a plow on the front, his son uses a snow blower, and his Wife and daughter operate regular snow shovels. Together they form one hell of a snow clearing team. Ok, moving along, we spent the better part of two hours checking out Al Ross's drawings and the 13 drawings for the Dewandre Turret.
The turret drawings were a bit confusing, but we figured out pretty much how the inside of the turret was formed, and how tubing and other parts worked. Stan was most interested in learning how the guns were connected and this was accomplished. The 1/32 machine guns I purchased will work great with this project, The only thing I did not have was the paints I ordered for the boat. These should be in soon. I have to send Stan a colored version of the Mosquito Fleet Emblem for the cabin sides, and if I can get better photo's of the inside of the turrets and the lower forward cabin, Stan will better be able to complete this design. Stay tuned............

Frank,
If you have ACF V2, go to pages 216-217. The three large photos are of the 70' turrets with domes removed.
