This one is a shocker to me. Never even knew anything about this book or the Author. Thanks for the heads up Jim.

I've never heard anything about this set, either. Exlibris is a self-publishing company, so it's likely that there was little or no peer review. The price is certainly inexpensive for 1000+ pages. The cover is very odd - looks like a portion of a mediocre ship model of some type. Might be worth getting one volume and seeing what's there.

Hi Guys,
I found this when I googled Harold Barbin:
HAROLD L. BARBIN Obituary(Archived)
Published in Houston Chronicle on March 21, 2010
First 25 of 166 words: HAROLD L. BARBIN, CMSGT Retired, 84, he was born Ocober 23, 1925 in Beaumont, TX, he died Friday, March 19, 2010 in Houston, TX.
I read also that his wife, Mavis, died previously. So this book must have been self published by his Next of Kin. I agree with you Al. The cover photo is very strange, it does not look quite like a PT Boat! It partially resembles part of the aft day room on an 80 foot Elco, but not really. I wonder what it is? Let us know what the book looks like inside. Thanks Jerry

the cover sort of reminds me of a ship more than anything, maybe its the aft portion of some late or post war large boats, like the Japanese PT 815, or post war English or German boat.
Take care,

Weren't their some larger boats at the beginning of the war that carried torpedo tubes. Maybe like a Sub Chaser or Patrol Craft, something like that, or even the early Destroyers use to have.

Silly me, If I had done a little searching like I just finished the cover is clearly of PT-15, Japanese Torpedo Boat PT-15 model. You can go to this place and look at several photos of the model - - -
aeroscale.co.uk
or do a image searcher for Japanese Torpedo Boat PT-15

Hadly,
Good detective work! Thats kind of Ironic using a photo of a model of a Japanese PT Boat on the cover of a book about US PT Boats! Now thats funny right there, I dont care who you are! Jerry

Yup, a post-war design for the JMSDF. This doesn't give me a warm fuzzy about the book We'll see soon.
