I have completed another section of the PT-157: A Scale Model Builder's Notebook. (called 'Volume II'...clever eh!). As some of you know these details are all scratch built.
As with the first Volume, this Volume shows the making of additional details based on newer information from numerous sources...including plank PT-157 crew members!
For both Volumes I & II the price is usually $20 (to help as the PT-157 cost over $1,700 to make) however from now until Dec 8th (in honor of the upcoming Pearl Harbor Day) there will be no charge for the download versions.
Below are a couple of photos of a few of the newly completed details. Of course for model builder, or those interested enough to see how we make this stuff, there are plenty of scratch built detail photos showing the work in process. To me the making of the various PT sections has been the challenge, joy and (when done) the pleasure. There are about 350 photos in these two volumes combined.

Bridge;
I know I have said it before, but your work is outstanding!!!! Those weapons really look like the real thing!! Not models !! The aft 20mm looks like all you have to do is pull the charging handle and you in business! And those .50s are master pieces, just take them off safe and sqeeze off a few hundred rounds. That boat just looks like she is waiting for Bud to step behind the wheel and fire her up. Have you taken it yet to Bud? I bet it will sure put a twinkle in his eyes.
Take care,
TED

Ted,
Thanks for your kind comments!
I been in constant contact with Bud and his torpedo man, Welford West, of the 157 and they have been a key stimulus for new and revised details this year. They are both very pleased with the way 157 has come out!
The model is done and all painted! The real joy of the model is in the journey. I'm get even more zaazz looking through the pictures of the 157 being built than anything else! Hence I'm as overjoyed at having captured what I did in the book as I am at the model itself.

Beautiful work, Bridge.
I'm particularly enamored of your alternate searchlight mount pintle arm -- the first one I've ever seen rendered on any scale 80' Elco PT model -- and yours is perfectly realized.
That 20mm gun & mount are amazingly realistic, too.
