I have a question, guys. Why, at this stage of the war, would anyone opt for the heavier tubes when lightweight Mk XIII racks had been invented?

The roll-off racks weren't standard when this photo was taken, most likely during trials in June/July 1943. Photos of RON 23 being placed in commission show the boats with the standard MK19 tubes and this was June 28, 1943.
