Be aware, that the flash of the Camera changes colors. The Kapoks are more of a Gray/Blue color in person............Alex will take some shots not using the flash and I will post the photos. GREAT JOB BRIDGE.

Nice model and diorama, Alex!
Adding stowed helmets to my 1/350 PT Boats had always been in the back of my mind and I have been wondering what could I use for the life jackets.
Your model has inspired me to create add both to my models.
At first, I clipped the heads off of some 1/350 resin figures but, then I realized that I'd need a lot more helmets than I had figures to clip them from. And the figures aren't cheap; even though I don't plan on using the combat figures with helmets on, in my diorama. (However, the helmets can replicate an inside-out dixie cup hat.)
So, I have sanded some small styrene rod and rounded the tip of the rod and cut the helmet from the tip of the rod.
The life jackets are made from Testors white putty and I basically roll them a little like a booger, and then smash and shape them, a little, and let them dry hard. Luckily, I don't have to be so, exact with this smaller scale.
The three boats that I have attached to my diorama, already, may not get helmets and jackets because of the difficulty reaching them on the diorama. The rest of the boats that aren't attached, yet, will get them.

Very nice -- although I wasn't aware that the points of actual WWII kapok life jacket's "collars" were that seperate from the jackets themselves...

Hey Guys, Alex took these photos using less or no flash from the Camera. It gives you an idea of the true colors that Bridge Carne used on the Kapoks for our project. You can see that they are really not as blue as the previous photo's.

Drew:
You are correct in that the collars were not that seperate from the main body of the Kapok. This is something that can be fixed if Bridge or anyone else wishs to make their own. For our project, this is something more or less minor and because of the time factor in getting this project to the Family, we will be happy with the Kapoks tha Bridge made for us. I think they look great............

Those jackets really add something to the entire outlook of the boat. Bridge you did a fantastic job on these!
We are getting very close to home on this project and there will be a few new items that will be added. I don't want to let the cat out of the bag just yet, but Frank A. , Alex Johnson and myself agreed that a few changes should be made to the 374 diorama project. Stay tuned for updates on the board!

These look good Frank. Thanks to you and Alex for adding to the great looking diorama.
I'm collecting any/all comments to adjustments needed to the look of the life jackets (this was anticipated).
Not having any familiarity as to the construction of the jackets, I had based the collar attachment for the 'hanging jackets' in this photo. It certainly seemed that the front portion of the collar, especially at the slumping shoulders, was not attached to the jacket in this shot but from what you're saying it was and it just a visual oddity of the angle in this shot (or maybe this sailor's jacket is well worn in....who knows).

Bridge and Franks
I am unsure if you can tell from this photo but the life jacket collar is attached to the vest sides pretty well, however they will hang in such a way they look like the collar is not attached. I hope this pic helps a little Jerry PT658

Jerry
In viewing many photographs, it does appear that the collars were dettached from the main body of the Kapok. Although it was a pain in the neck, I dug out my WWII Navy Kapok and the collar is not seperate or dettached. Yet, when I hung the jacket across the rail of the outside porch, the collar appears to seperate from the main body. This is just the way the Kapok hangs, and it is the illusion we see in the photographs......................
