All,
I am currently building PT 215 given that I like the odd configuration. Other than Victors picture on page 44, does anyone have any pictures of PT 215 or a similar boat. I would like to make sure I get the mid 20mm mount and 37mm configuration on the bow correct. Also, any pictures of how the .30 cals were mounted to the compressed air tubes would be highly appreciated. Thank you, Mark.

I know I have a photo or two that show the tripod type mount on the torpedo tubes. Maybe someone here on the board has the pic of the 214 ( port side shot while underway ), but I will send it to you when I can find it. Seems to me that the pipe mount is on the torpedo rack and the tripod mount was on the tubes. I'll put pics here soon.

Mark,
This is quite possibly the 215, there is a number on the port torpedo tube that certainly looks like it to me, but who knows. The photo is after the Salerno invasion, maybe late Sept, 1943, and was taken at Capri. I hope this helps you.

Thank you Steve. This helps a lot with the 20mm base and the 30’s. It looks like there are two 30’s on the right but none on the left. Please let me know if you have any pictures of a 40mm base on a Higgins. Trying to figure out if it goes around the hatch like an Elco or is just short of the hatch. Thanks again, Mark

Definitely a .30-cal MG atop the port tube......

Looks like the 40mm is just astern of the aft hatch, which is between the mount and the 40mm loading rack.

Looks like there could be a .30 cal on the forward part of the port torpedo tube, I can kind of see a tripod mount, but there doesn't seem to be a .30 on the aft portion.

I did not mean to imply there was a 40mm mount in this picture.
