A Free copy of the "ELCO Parts Catalog" is now available for downloading.

Thanks to Al Ross, who was so kind to loan me his ELCO Parts Catalog for the purpose of viewing and scanning. Hence after many. many days of scanning and assembling, I created a ".PDF" file for everyone to view. I also performed an OCR function, which made the parts catalog searchable. When viewing the catalog file in Acrobat Reader, (depending on your version of Reader) there will be a search box that allows you to type in a word or phrase and it will search the catalog for all occurrences of the word. It will also open the first page the word can be founded and a continue link to proceed to the next occurrence, if it exists.

Unlike parts catalogs today, where most all parts are line drawning, mainly in Isometric, this war era was the beginning of full scale Parts Cataloging and the creation of skilled illustrators such as myself. However, this catalog like many during the war utilized photographs rather then line drawing because of a lack of trained Technical Illustrators. This is a very interesting book and fun to view the many non-descript parts not normally seen while viewing photos of PT boats. It shows many of the mundane but essential components under the hood.

The link below takes you to a page on my website that contains a link for the downloading of the ".PDF" file to your computer. It's a BIG file so for some it may take a while to download.

On a Windows PC Computer: hold down your right mouse button directly on the file "Link" and choose " Save Target As . . ."

On a Macintosh Computer: hold down your right mouse button directly on the file "Link" and choose "Download Linked File".

First click on this link to go to the download page: http://www.gdinc.com/PartCatalog-01.html

Have fun,
Dick . . .

PS:
In the next few weeks I will be adding more documents to this page for downloading. Again thanks to Al Ross for loaning me, in this case, very old microfilm. In many instances the seer age of the film strip really show there age in the quality of the scans, I sent the microfilm out to a specialized company for scanning. The same company that I hired to scan the ELCO drawings was used, and they were only able to send back to me their best shot. Some of the documents are very poor others are fine. I’ll let you know when these other files are available. Or just remember to check back to this link page every once in awhile.

Thank you Dick and Al.

Top honors to you both for your ever vigilant work to provide more information on the PT's It seems in the last two years more incredible original documentation is arriving and being made available than in the previous 40-years. The PT faithful will learn more and be able to do more based on these efforts.
