Many months ago, I found a website for the actor Biff Elliot, who played crewman Edgar Mauer in the film "PT 109," on the internet. The website had an email address contact for Mr. Elliot, and I sent him an email asking him if he would share his memories of filming "PT 109" with the PT Boats, Inc. message board.

Today, I received this email from his wife, Connie;

"Sorry we are so late in getting back to you about the PT Boat website. Biff Elliot doesn't do email, but his wife (me, Connie) does. I asked him about his memories of the film. he's 87 years old and has trouble sometimes remembering. So far he has mentioned a couple of things, and if you have specific questions, maybe something would jog his memory.

He kept in touch for many years with some of the cast members and even visited Michael Pare (who played Coastwatcher Reg Evans) in Australia a few years before he died. One of his memories is that they picked up some Cuban refugees who were in a lifeboat. I asked him about the boat itself, and he said that it was a converted air/sea rescue boat. It had one exhaust, and they made it look like it had two.

I know that filming the movie "PT 109" was a favorite time in his life. Most was filmed at Key West, Florida. The scene where the boat breaks up was filmed afterward in a tank in a sound stage."

So, guys, if anyone has any specific questions for Biff Elliot about the filming of "PT 109," his wife Connie will be glad to ask him for us.

Please ask Biff what's the top speed of "PT 109" in the film and did they
film it at top speed just for fun. Thanks.

Victor,

I've passed your questions for Biff along to Connie.
