Carl;
As is a later RON and RON 33 is well documented, I am sure PTBOATS HQ has the photos you are looking for, remember, since all boats involved in Surigao Strait sortied up from New Guinea, they did not have any real time to change weapons mounts or armorment packages, so It would be correct to say you have a window, give or take a month.
take care,

Thanks for the tip, Ted. I'm not familiar with " PT Boas HQ ". Is that a web site? If so, where?

Ahoy Carl.
There's a link at the top of this forum on the extreme left side of the page that will take you to PT Boats HQ.
Cheers from Peter

Carl;
As Peter said, there is a link on this page, PT HQ is located in Germantown, TN, and you will find the mailing address within this site. when I was there in 1997, they had about 10,000 photos, (filed by Boat number, RON, Manufacturers photos, Tender, and Base) I am sure they have many more photos by now.
Good Luck,

Oh, okay. So PT HQ is a physical place with photo archives. Thanks.
Now I'm wondering if others, like Blake, ducati650, or Frank Andruss, have asked them for the same thing on Ron 33, or the Oyster Bay.

Carl & Ed, Sorry it has taken me so long to respond to your questions about the Ron 33 photos I have. Life has just been very full of life lately & I haven't been able to visit the message board more than just a few times in 3 or 4 months. Carl to answer your question, no I haven't contacted PT HQ about any possible Ron 33 photos, especially PT 488....It's one of those things I have always been going to do, but just haven't. Ed I appreciate your offer to put my pics up on photobucket, but I already had a few there, so I (finally) just added the rest tonight. The album is:
PT Boats Ron 33 Howard E Herling Leyte Gulf
Carl, there are a few of the 488, but not near as many as I'd like, nor are they as clear as I'd like, but you take what the past will give you. Maybe you can glean something useful from them. Again, sorry for such a delay, if you have any questions, let me know & I'll try to answer with what I know.

Blake,
Thanks for responding and posting all of your photos! I am, however, having troubles finding your album on photobucket.com. Is you album posted as "public" like mine?
Can you copy and paste the URL in a message, here?

There just doesn't seem to be very many photos floating around when dealing with the Tenders. This morning I spoke to the son whose dad served on the USS Varuna. He has his Dad's photo's from his time spent, but mostly crewmember shots. I have seen little in the way of deck shots, machine shops, working on the boats. Just not many were around. I had contacted Alyce about tender shots when I was working on my second book, "PT BOATS behind the Scenes. She had little..................
