I am finally getting a model project off the ground & was wondering if anyone had any photographs of the "486" boat from Melville ?
I have one photograph from Jim M. I believe but that's it.
If you have any that you could scan in & send to me via e-mail I'd appreciate it.
Also, does anyone have a good "source" for 1/72nd scale model parts for PT's ? The torpedoes will have to be changed from what I received in the kit & possibly some other items.
Can anyone confirm that "below the waterline", most of the boats had their hulls painted "red" ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tom

Hi Tom,
I emailed you some pictures of the PT486, one was taken in 1945 in Melville, and 5 others were taken interior and exterior showing how it looks present day as a harbor charter boat "Big Blue" in Wildwood NJ. Jerry

Tom,
White Ensign Models of England has some 1:72 stuff and photo-etched parts for PTs.
You can see some of their things on my www.ptboatworld.com in the section for models. I highly recommend their stuff.

Thanks Garth for the info., I'll check it out.
I was also told they also have a paint called "Copperoid" which is what the Hulls of some of the boats we're painted .
From some of the video & photographs I've seen, the "486" had various configurations of weaponry. I'll just have to decide which one's to have on-board.
I'm working with the Revell PT-109 Kit so will have to see what kind of modifications I can make to it.
Thanks Again, Tom

Actually Tom,
The WEM color you want is Norfolk 65-A Anti-fouling Red. It is an excellent substitute for Copperoyd.

Tom,
You can order from them online at www.whiteensignmodels.com - they're very helpful people and they send orders out very quickly. No more than a week.
