Like the title says, I am using a 109 kit to build PT 129. I have built the 40mm and removed the after 20mm to move up front. When they stuck a 40mm on the aft of a PT, did they more or less center it over the 20mm's spot, or move it further back? I have looked at a weapons template on here and it seems to indicate that it should go where the 20mm was, which would leave room for what looks like a hatch cover to the engine room.

Anybody know what kind of ammo racks would be there? I have seen the nice shelves on a restored boat, but also have seen pictures of simple metal guard bars with cans of 40mm on deck.

Sir,

If you email me at PTConsultingNHR@aol.com, I can email you some photos of my PT-171 which Alex Johnson built for me using the 109 kit which can help you in your project.

What appeared like a 3 piece steel plate was also added to the deck to support the weight of the 40mm mount. it was probably 1/4 inch . The additional photos of 129 will come tomorrow.
Take care,

Got a uniform at an auction that belonged to a crewman on the 129. Tracking down his history kinda consumed my Summer, and I plan to build my best version of the 129 to go with the dress blues.

Yes my grandfather served on PT 129 when it was called the " Artful Dodger" I had the pleasure of communicating with Mr. Andruss who was very very helpful. My grandfather was in ron 7 and 8 we have many pictures, and other artifacts he brought home.

He served on PT129 from about Jun 1944 until October 2, 1945 boat destroyed October 28th

He was very very proud of his service. Few believed he actually served on PT's...but he did.

Jenna;
Good for you! Cherish your grandfather's history and his memorabilia from his PT 129 days in RON 7 and 8. I have sent Garandomatic 1944-45 photos of PT 129, but from what you wrote, I know your Grandfather is in the photos of 129 underway. If you would like copies click on the envelope icon and contact me off site.
Take care,
