It's kind of hard to RC a 1/350 PT boat even if it is an 80 footer.

Well said Peter I prefer 1/24th myself nothing like drawing up the plans and building with timber, and for those that like the fact that the boats were built of Mahogany a little bit of chaseing down some materials will create a great hull from this timber.
As they say bigger is better and in the modeling world the P.T. Boats offer a great scope in the large scale, just take the italeri 1/35th model they could have made it in a smaller scale, but look at the detail and think what can be done to it ! This is the way to go, now for a 77' Elco and a 78' Higgins and the group will be about as complete as we will see from the model companies so the rest is up to us the modeler !

That 1/350 scale is much too small for my Exhibit. 1/35 scale is just perfect for working with. Alex Johnson has done some great backdating on our PT-374 Project, making scratch built parts. Now a 103 class Elco and a Higgins, would be just wonderful. Heck, I would even like to see someone do a Huckins...........

John, you're not plugging your products are you? I happen to be the proud owner of a pair of 1:700 PT's. What's nice about 350th and 700th is that you can create a scene and there are lots of subjects available. Loose Cannon has a wonderful PT Boat Base. I think you can get that from John (White Ensign Models) as well.
Now, there's a very good chance that we'll see the 1/35 Elco come back in an earlier class. You can tell it was designed to have that flexibility. You never know, somebody might get the rights for the Italeri kit and release it as a 103 class boat.
But there is a wonderful 103 class kit available in 1/48 scale right now from Bluejacket models. Like any kit with a little extra work you can create a masterpiece. That's the one I'm working on now.
It would be nice to see a 77' Elco. I would love to do the 59 boat someday. What a prickly beast that was.
