I just received the latest edition (Sept. 2010) of Fine Scale Modeler, which has the results of their Most Wanted Kits survey. You guys and gals came through! We placed first in 1/35 scale ships and boats and second in 1/72 scale ships and boats (darn U-boats!). Maybe now Italeri, Revell, Trumpeter, and Tamiya will get the message!

I'd be all for more 1/35 scale kits that were under $100. I can't spend that kind of dough on a model when a real uniform only cost me $40! 1/35 has got to be more fun, too. Just put the 1/72 40mm together... I've always been a fine detail guy, be it drawing, sculpting, or model building, but holy crap that was rough...

Had to use the magnifier, did you? Well, that is whst happens when we get old. That is why I like 1/35 scale. Watch e-bay for reduced cost kits od PT's.

I know you 78' Higgins veterans and enthusiasts want a good new model kit version of your favorite PT -- and you deserve one!
But...
I'm hoping they'll make a new kit of the venerable second-series 77' Elcos, the boats that held the line around Guadalcanal during those early, "Long Were The Nights" nights, and also fought through the Russells, Rendova, and New Guinea campaigns.
My new kit fantasies are to see a 1/72nd scale kit with parts for both a stock 77' footer and a PT 59/60/61-type gunboat, and a 1/35th scale PT 103-class boat kit.

It seems as though the model companies are way behind when it comes to any updated kits for the PT BOATS. Those of us that love these boats have waited way too long for new kits to flood the market. I will never understand that here we are living in AMERICA, and yet you can pick up anything that has to do with the GERMANS ( who lost the war I might add), and struggle to find American Kits and parts..........Something is wrong here.

My thoughts exactly Frank A.!!! AND.......... all of those German kits are mostly manufactured by Japanese???????? I don't get that??
I certainly voted for some new PT boat kit to hit the market as well. I'm hoping for an Italerie 103 class PT to come out. There has been some scuttlebutt about this company possibly coming out with this kit in the future. I sure hope so!
Oh yeah, I'm glad to be back on the ol' message board! Missed all you guys!

Ahoy there.
I too would like to see an accurate 1/35 scale 77' Elco and a 103-Class 80 feet Elco. A 78' Higgins would also be nice. Just think of all the scenes you could recreate with those.
Cheers from Peter

Oh, c'mon guys! 1/72? 1/35?? And here we have a lovely 77' Elco and 80' Elco available for you in 1/350, complete with their own dedicated PE frets. And for Vietnam vets like myself, we have a 1/350 Nasty-class PTF as well. Get out your Optivisors....
Cheers,
John Snyder
