I am seeking information on the fate of PT 307 and 311. My dad served on these two boats during WWII. He has recently shared some stories of his time on these boats. I am amazed that he made it out alive..If anyone has any information on these two boats, I would greatly appreciate receiving it. My dad's name is Clyde H. Thompson (TEX). Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Contact me at noocyarad@aol.com

Both boats are mentioned in Cdr. Bukjkey's book AT CLOSE QUARTERS. I have a couple of pictures of the boats which I will e-mail to you.

Noocy,

What were the dates for your fathers service on the two boats ? I don't know if there are any Ron 22 deck logs, but I can look at the war diary & action reports ( next time at NARA ) for anything of interest. The diaries of Rons 15, 22 & 29 are the same as for as I know.

Oh, also, I think all Ron 22 boats were back in the states when the war ended.

Thank you for all of your information, I talked to my dad and found out that he was on the 311 when it was hit by a mine on 18 Nov 1944. He said he managed to get on a piece of the boat and was rescued about 23 hours later. He alsol had some stories about 307 and a German ship. Thank you again for all of your information

Hello Noocyarad,
I had the pleasure of seving with your dad in Ron 22. I was on PT 302 and when the war ended in Europe all boats of Ron 22 were shipped State Side with the exception of PT 311. I lost a ship mate on PT 307 due to heavy seas in January 1945. Other than that there isn't much I remember or relate about the Seven or Eleven boats.
Good luck in your search. Give a hollar if you think I can shed any light.
