EVERYBODY......FYI
CHECK OUT THIS BOOK ON E-BAY....Item number: 160446412351
I HAVE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF A BOOK LIKE THIS, THIS SHOULD GO RIGHT TO THE MUSEUM HQ IN GERMANTOWN!
IT IS OVERWELMING TO ME, JUST THE ORIGINAL CREW SIGNATURES ALONE ARE PRICELESS. IT LOOKS LIKE IT ALSO COMES WITH ORIGINAL SET OF ELCO LITHOGRAPHS! I WISH I COULD GET IT, JUST TO PUT IT WHERE IT BELONGS.
TAKE CARE,
TED

Ted

I had seen this before, but as I do not have any extra money, I can not even begin to bid. I do know one friend who will be bidding, and I can tell you he will do anything to get this book, as would I (if Will Day would only give me the money) so thanks for reminding me. Now I can cry in my orange juice. If only I could hit the lottery......

Why do the listing mention "Squadrons" and not "RON"s?

thanks

Ohhhhh! Think I would have figured that out by now! Ha Ha!

I contacted the seller - unfortunately there is nothing in the book about PT 300 - my main interest. I wonder why it is so difficult to find original info about the 300?

Ted,

It is a treasure! I wonder how it got out of government hands and into a private citizen's possession? (and not in the Smithsonian for safe keeping at the least).

My finances don't allow me to bid on this or I would of course. To bad the bidder. who notes it should be in a museum, doesn't donate it to PTBOATS.ORG and take the charitable deduction.

When I was dealing with the women who had the Lt. Cmdr. Alan Montgomery collection, I did the same thing. It was discussed that it should go to a Museum or my Exhibit, but in the end, I had to shell out some good money to purchase these one of a kind items. I am certainly glad that I did, but many folks who have these items reach a point where they really need the dough. A dear friend of mine once said to me, Frank never ever say that you would not sell a portion of your collection or the whole thing, because it may happen one day. I thought about that, which made good sence, considering he sold 14 of his prized and rebuilt antique cars, because he needed the money.. Over the years, I have lost out on items for my Exhibit because folks really needed the money, and I could not afford to buy these items. I pray to God I never reach that point in my life, but this is what happens when we see some of these rare PT Boat items for sale.

I wished there was a museum or something bidding on this. I'm a poor author, but I could scrounge up a $10-$20 dollar donation to help purchase this for a collection. Of course I wish it would be in a museum near me. But not too much call for PT boat items in East Tennessee military museums.

Thats a very nice offer, but the bid is already in excess of $500.00 and I expect it to fetch well over 800.00-1,000.00. Like I said if I had the extra money, I would be in the hunt for this artifact.............WILL can I have $1,200.00, heck you don't need it.........

Maybe I might bid on it at the last moment depending on hoe high it goes. Right now it is at $510.00. Maybe it could have some info I was looking for.
