First of all Frank, I think Stan is going to kill you. :-)
The WEM set sells for under GBP 25.00 now. In USD that's about $38 plus shipping at current exchange rates? You don't have to pay VAT. I think Sprue Brothers sells this set for about $51? You wont save much buying direct from WEM.
Frank, I'll get what I have off to you once I get your address.
Ted, I think the PE is too thin to cast on it's own. If I were to do this what I would do is build up a master using the photo etch and the back say 1/2" of the end of the tube. Or maybe just the part that bulges. Then just make a casting of the back end.
What I did was cast the whole tube. I built up the master from parts of the WEM set and the Revell set. This was an experiment on my part and I think it came out okay. I can't find the mold otherwise I would cast some for you. I also made a master of the impulse chamber just to see if I could do it. Honestly you would spend as much on mold material and resin as you would just buying a new set.
Not sure if that helps or not. Does Stan have any casting materials?

Thanks for your input. It would make more sence to just mold the entire tube. Stan does have molding materials and does mold some of his own parts. If we had one of the tubes, I am sure he could copy them......

I have been dealing with Stan for so long now, he knows me. I think after this project he is taking some time off to complete some of his own projects. Of course, I could put another bug in his ear, then he might kill me.......

Frank, thanks very much. I am sure Stan appreciates the kind words. Thanks to Dave Waples and Alex Johnson, we now have some photo etched parts for PT-108. Stan will begin adding the correct torpedo backs as provided in the Kit, and will be redoing the rear spray shield so that it is correct.

Stan Pienkowski sent me these new shots of the PT-108/Submarine project. The project is now completed except for Stan adding the resin to the water. The new torpedo backs have been added and Stan changed the rear spray shield.
I think it looks just super, and I hope Earl Richmond will agree with me, as I hope all of you do. I will try and send you guys some completed shots once the resin has been added to the water.
