I made my way over to Stan Pienkowski's house today to check on our project. I must say it looks wonderful. Stan has done plenty of work on the sub, finishing the hull and conning tower. We spent the morning placing the men where we wanted them to go, and they are now in place. Stan repainted the blue color around the Star, on the dayroom cabin, as I thought it was too light. PT-108 is completed except for adding the Flag, ropes, helmets, and other deck items. The sub, save for Flags and some deck items is also completed. The new style base has been cut and when I left, Stan was trying different combinations of colors for the water. As you can see, this Diorama will look Beautiful when completed. It will be a wonderful tribute to PT-108 Crew member, Earl Richmond.

Looking good Frank, the figures sure add interest. I found myself wondering if the guy in the raft had a wet seat.

Coming along nicely. That's going to be one big display when it's done.

Thanks guys, I know Stan will be pleased to hear his work is well appreciated, and I did hear from Earl who just loves everything about this project. I am happy that Earl has given his approval...............

One of the things that bugged me was the absence of the correct backings to the torpedo tubes. I visited WEM products, but that photo-etched kit is something like $60.00. I did not want to spend that for 4 torpedo tube ends. Anyone have any suggestions. I do hate to leave the torpedo tubes incorrectly represented.................

I have 3 of the 4 from the WEM photoetch set, but none of the fasteners. You're welcome to them if you like.

Frank,

You could have Stan work on the rears of those tube loading doors to create the smooth, shallow concave shape the ones without the raised-rib "star"-type reinforcing had.

There are photos of the "bare" types around...
