Ted has already pointed out one inconsistancy with the name of the 48 boat. That's the kind of stuff we need to hear....

Thank you Will, very interesting! Where did you dig all those names up at? And thank you too Dick for posting on your web site.

Jeff: The list comes from anyplace and everyplace. Books, photos, word-of-mouth, you name it. There will obviously be inaccuracies, but at least it gives us some point of reference. Obviously, I'm hoping people on this board can help to expand the list. That is what happened when it was first published on the PT-108 site some years ago.

Still find it hard to believe the 109 was actually nicknamed "JFK."

When I had become friends with Gerard Zinser and Maurice Kowal, I had asked both of them about the nickname of the boat. Here is something interesting. Zinser right away told me "No, we never even heard that before. We called Kennedy "Skipper or Shafty", but as far as we knew no one named the boat JFK. Kowal, in my visit to him a few years back, said he remembered something like that, but could not be sure. Interesting in that both men served on the 109, yet they seemed very unsure of this nickname and could nt really say Yes to that fact. It more or less proves my earlier post about some of the Crewmembers not even knowing about nicknames of the boats.............
