Greetings all,
Garth was working with a cottage industry company down in Australia trying to get them to produce some after market parts in 1/35 and 1/72 for the Italeri and Revell kits. Their primary project was to backdate the radar to the SO dome style. Unfortunately due to what they perceive as a weak market for this item (and they're probably right) they have decided to cancel the project. Increasing costs and limited funds from the modeling community are taking their toll.

This isn't the same company that was rumored to be considering producing a South Pacific style 1:35 crew is it? Please say no, please say no!

I believe that thread was from PeterTareBuilder on May 5, 2009.
"Manufacturer May B Interested In Crew Figures 4 Italeri Kit".
Peter is there anything new on a South Pacific Crew?

Hi Blake,
No, this had nothing to do with the project this project. The figures were being done by a friend of Wink. I completely forgot about them so I just sent him an email asking if that project is still under way. When I hear I will let you know.

Ahoy there mateys!
No, I haven't heard anything more from my contact at master Box in the Ukraine in regards to a South Pacific PT boat crew. I guess I'll email him and remind him that a *LOT* of 1/35 scale (and even 1/32 scale) PT boat modellers would like those figures if they were available.
The question will arise asking whether in-action or relaxed poses would be more appealing.
Cheers from Peter

My vote would be for relaxed poses. Those guys make nice products!

Blake,
By the way, no way will my 109 boat be finished by the meeting next weekend. I think I"m going to need at least 2 more weeks to finish her up. No doubt in my mind I will have it done for the meeting after that. I'll try and post some progress shots a little later though. I'm pretty happy with how she's coming along.

Figures that I would love to see would be the PT BOAT CREWS with Kaki shorts, White socks, and Boon-dockers. Lets not forget the HBT Fatigue hats as well. Simple but effective. Many of these figures should be in the relaxed mood, yet some would be nice set up to operate a 20mm, 40mm, 37mm or the twin 50 mounts. With these figures in 1/35, and 1/72 scale, the sky would be the limit for what you could build...........................

I just heard from Wink today. He told me that the SO backdate project is on the shelf but may return sometime down the road. Think good thoughts!
