Sir

Is Amazon the only place that has your book "Building the PT Boats"?

I have been unable to find it any where else.

The book is available at most online book stores including Barnes and Noble. Presently the book is available on EBAY by putting in PT BOAT in the search engine. Also, this months edition of Warships International has a book review as well. You can also buy the book directly from Nimble Books, and it is also available by going to the Ships Store right here on this site. If you do buy the book, buying it here on this site would help PT BOATS INC. I hope this answers your question..............

I would very much rather suppotr the forum site than Amazon that was part of why I was asking.

It is not listed on the Ships Store. I am currently filling out the order form for the PT Poster from Dick and the Info packet. If you can tell me the price for the book I would be glad to add that to the order form.

Thank You Frank for your phone call.

Talked to Alice, very nice lady, ordered all I dared to.

Looking forward to receiving the book in a couple of days.

Sent a check to Dick for the Elco DVD and old calendar, so I should be starting to cook much quicker now.

Thank You again for your help

Sir

I have had the book for a week now and almost everyday I find something else that blows my socks off.

I have shown the book to a number of people who are not PT people and they really like the way you put the book, as they state, "like a real 1940's photo album"

We all like how you let the photos tell most of the story then throw really interesting tid bits under the photos.

I have numerous questions that I will probably start asking soon but 1 I have to ask now. When they turned the boat hulls over at noon with the little cerimony you mention in a couple of pictures, was that done once a week or whenever the hull was ready?

Every Hull that was turned over during WWII at the Elco Naval Division had a different person doing that task. When I had visited the plant several years ago, one of the winches/motors was still in place on the heavy wooden beam. I had wanted to take it, but it would have been a heck of a task to get it off of there. Now I wish I had gotten it because the building was vandalized, set on fire and torn down to make room for Condos. I can still see that winch in my mind and chain fall, and wonder about the wonderful boats that it turned and moved. Thanks so much for the kind words on my book. I appreciate that very much............

You have to go to Dick's YouTube site to see the video collection on PT Boats. Specially the three part "Giant Killers" video of the ELCO plant taking you through the whole process of building a typical 80 ELCO PT boat. it also shows and explains the turning of the hull. Take a look it's in three separate parts.

He also has other very cool PT Boat video, a must see!

Thanks I actually have the original 16mm Film from "GIANT KILLERS" put out in 1944 from the Elco Naval Division. I had them made into DVD's several years ago so I am very familiar with the Movie...............
