Hello guys. Bill Bonner took these photos of the completed WC-51, JEEP, and the new Bulletin board for the Quonset Hut. Frank Ryczek has been on a continuous roll making everything from the 40mm Bofors Mount to our wonderful Palm Trees. On the other end, Alex Johnson has been busy working on PT-374. Items were recently sent to Alex, who will be putting all of this together. Frank is now busy making the base and the water for this massive diorama. More photos when they become available.............

Hi there.

The truck looks a lot different from when I had it. I'm glad that you fellows were able to make such great use of it. One thing I should point out perhaps is that the driver should have at least one hand on the steering wheel. Or are those fellows in the front seat who are looking towards the fellows in the back making bets as to when they crash? VBG LOL ;<)

In all seriousness, this is looking good. It will be very interesting to see the rest of the diorama.

When at hobby shows and model contests it is always interesting to see the veterans as they look at the various models. I often wonder what memories are recalled when they view a well built and accurate model. I dedicate all of my military models to the memories of those who served. Each model is a memorial and a testament to these men and women who served.

If you fellows need anything else please let me know and I'll help when and where I can.

Cheers from Peter

Nice work guys, very realistic. How large is that bulletin board? The text looks very clear.

Hiya Peter and Jeff-

Thanks for the kind words about the project!

Peter- Yes, the old WC-51 that you sent me for the PT 374 has gone through a lot of changes. In case any one questions the poses on the figures, if you look at the original photograph that I have worked from you will see that the vehicle is STOPPED and all of the nine figures are looking to the extreme right! This is the look I wanted to achieve! I hope that everyone will be pleased with my efforts so far! Thanks for all the figure stuff too, Peter. I will be sending you copies of the dixie cup cap, pith helmets, and assorted hats that I have made molds from. Thanks so much for your donations to our project!

Jeff- As for the bullitin board, it is a standard 7 foot high in 1/35th scale! My good buddy who took these shot has a super zoom lens on his digital camera! Glad you like it!

Hi, Frank, The Jeep looks great and does look like the full size version .

Out Of Interest

I have just returned from Vanuatu and while there I happened to see an Wileys MB Jeep in frount of me on the road, I did not think much of this as there are still a number of them around, when I saw another this was a little to much to take as most WW11 Jeeps in the islands have been worn out, Rusted away or taken O/S to be restored.

I asked the driver to stop and she did, we had a chat for a while and it turns out that a very enterprising Gent. had obtained a fair number of WW11 Jeeps,Korean War Jeeps and Vietnam War Jeeps all from Korea.
he then had them shipped to Vanuatu where he sold a number and then started an Army Jeep hire Business, with a little bit of looking around we could play spot the Jeep most of the day.

So the New Hebrides Rings to the sound of the Wileys Jeeps side valve engine once again.

By the way he still has about Ten for sale if someone is looking for a restoration to start !!!

Hi Dave-

I had a lot of fun with the Tamiya version of the Willy's jeep. Frank Andruss told me that he wanted the jeep weather to the hilt so I did exactly what he asked for!

I used DOC O'BRIANS powered weathering set to achieve the look I was after. I love working with these powders and are very easy and a lot of fun to use. Actually any typr of weathering powders would work, even sandpapered pastels.

Glad you like the model Dave!
