Hello guys, here is the photo of the WC-51 that Frank R. is trying to replicate for the project. As you can see it has seen better days, but should look awesome in our PT-374 project

Thanks for running this shot Boss!

OK guys, I have a couple of questions regarding this picture. Of the three sailor's seated in "front", WHAT is that triangular thing under the right foot of the middle sailor? Is that some kind of wheel chock???

The front row sailor sitting on the rear fender, is that a .45 on his right side?

It appears that there is a strap of some kind under the front step?

There are two indentations on the side fender wall. One is the gas cap, Whats the other??

Is there anything else I have overlooked here??????

Peter Tare the Builder sent me this ammo carrier model and it's a beauty! One of the rear leaf springs was missing and I had to jury rig a new set from my Tamiya Willy's jeep and it worked out great. I have the right side stake railing made and weathered. It's going to be an awesome build when I'm finished with the thing. I want to come as close to this picture as I can replicate. I'll keep you guys posted!

Peter, thanks for the truck and the seated figures!

Hi Frank . . . My thoughts:

Photo 1 looks like Heavy tie-down hooks, recessed for flush sides. The aft one appears to have an accompanied side reflector or a tie-down ring. I think the gas cap would be on the back end of the fender ? ? ? ? ?

Photo 2 looks to be two fuel (jerry) can brackets mounted at either end of the running board, with the hanging down strap belonging to the bracket to hold the jerry can in place ? ? ? ?

Dick . . . .

Opps for got one:

Doesn't look like a 45 but hummmm your guess as good as mine ? ? ?

Hey Dick-

Thanks for your thoughts, buddy! The exploded views shed new light on this old photograph.

That sure as shootin' doesn't look like a holster does it??

Anybody else care to add their thoughts on this one!

Thanks again, Dick!

If you follow the end of what I first thought was a .45 Holster, it sure looks like a pair of Binoculars to me, crammed into where he is sitting.....Hmmmmm

Frank R.

Do you want a pair of binoculars to go with this vehicle? I can add a pair of Tamiya ones to the figure parts package.

Cheers from Peter

First, I would like to commend the group in this picture for being well dressed.

The item at the sailor's right hip does not look like binoculars. Is it some kind of a bag stuffed beside him? Our binoculars were usually not taken off the boat.

Frank;
The "holster" looks more like a Smith & Wesson .38, you can find one of these in the Tamiaya small arms and accessories set. The .38 would not be out of place in your diorama, since it was an issue weapon for PT crews in the Solomons, However, it may be a leather belt pouch for a marlinespike( a guy could use this for everything), or if this is a bunch of Seabees who were working on a runway clearing , it might be a demolition tool for cutting primer cord and crimping blasting caps.
As for Dick's I.D.'s on the truck he is dead on, heavy tie down hooks and yes
that is a jerry can mount.
Take care and send photos as I am also doing a WC or two for my VMF 214 BlackSheep diorama, which I put aside for awhile.
Take care,
TED

The gas cap is actually on the other side (driver's side). The front indents are tie downs and the back ones are for the lights plus a tie down.
