I've been going to check for days & last night I finally had the time. I dug out my Testors PT kits & here's the exact measurements:
Length is just a tic under 5 & 3/16 inches stem to stern on the deck.
Hull measures exactly 5 & 1/8 inches stem to stern.
Width is 1 & 5/16 inches wide at the widest point.
Quick calculation makes it 187th scale.
The re-issue box from 2003 gives the scale as 1:200.
Kit number was RM86200102 Stock N0. 862001(if that helps anyone with a search)
I bought my son & I each a kit when Testors re-released them as part of their EasyBuilder series back in '03.
My mom got me one of the original Hawk kits back in the late 60's via mail order I think. She also got me the LST that was part of the same series. My dad was a SeaBee in the late 50's early 60's & island hopped Guam, Ulithi, Saipan, Palau on LSTs. I built both of them as a kid & of course painted them gray....what else? Both of them sat perfectly in the water & I played with them in the tub & pool for years. Somewhere along the way they were lost to time & I was shocked when I stumbled across a whole rack of them at my local hobby shop, (Colpar Hobbies) in Denver. Having built models since I was a kid I thought about that little gray boat many times, but NEVER expected to ever find it again. I think they were about $3.75-$4.00 when I bought them. I wish I'd have picked up a bunch of them now along with the LST that I was always going to buy, but never did. Although I fished with him as a kid, I had no idea my Grandpa's brother served on PTs with Ron 33 until his funeral about 10 years ago. Somehow though I have always had a fascination with PTs (80' Elcos primarily) & I really think it was that little gray boat I built as a kid that sparked the interest.
Frank, I'll keep my eyes out for any kits I might stumble across. It worked once before...

Thanks so much for the information. I may have found a Company that still has them. I put in an E-Mail to them, so I hope to hear back. The US Currancy breaks down to $5.25 per boat. When I get more information, I will post it...................
