I have in my collection a few of the 1960's HAWK model PT BOATS. I understand that TESTORS had come out with that same kit, which I think is 1/200 scale. That would make the boat a little over 5 inches long. I would love to purchase a bunch of them, for a future project. I do not see where they are for sale. Does anyone have a source or hobby store that carries the boats?

Also, I am looking for plans for building a 1/48 scale scratch built PT-10. Does anyone have any plans I can borrow, or maybe a copy of those plans. I think the boats were that light gray, dark gray color out of the Factory, pretty much the same as the colors we used on the CRANE PROJECT. Thanks guys......................

The cheapest I could find was $6.99 per boat, which I think is a bit out of line. Many others I visited do not have them, or are out of stock. I could not even find them on the TESTORS WEB SITE. One Company was selling them for $4.50, but discontinued the line altogether.........

70' plans are in ACF V2. Just copy and enlarge them. Also, I just sent Dick the microfilm reels for the 70' boats, so they'll be on DVD at some point.

Frank,

In all honesty?

$6.99 for that kit? Is not all that bad ...

You are probably right, but I still live in the age of the 75 cent models, and the 10 cent per bottle Testors paint. Sometimes because I do very little shopping, prices seem high to me, I guess..............

Ahoy there. Frank A.

Because I use mostly Folk Art, Delta Creme Coat and similar acrylics for my figures and most other painting, I now live in the era of $1.00 per 2 ounces bottles of paints. These paints have fine enough pigments that it is possible to paint details on the faces of even 25 mm figures.

Cheers from Peter

Pete

I know a few guys that use the method of paint you describe. I guess what works best for the modeler (if successful) is the way to go.

GARTH- Your still a few years behind me, but I am sure you remember the old prices for model kits. A case of boats, heck what would I do with the all..............
