Dear Message Board:

I am so happy and excited to inform you that I have just signed a six month Contract for my Exhibit to be shown in the Gallery of The Connecticut Valley Historical Museum. This is part of the Springfield Museum located in Springfield Massachusetts.

The Exhibit will run from July 10, 2007 until January 6, 2008. I have had the chance to view this Museum many times. The Visitors number in the thousands, so I am most happy that my Exhibit will educate all that go thru its doors. As we speak I am having three PT Boats built by 2 different builders. I should have 4 on display. I am asking some of you if you might have any photos to share dealing with the Philippine conflict and espically Squadron 3. Tough to obtain these photos as not many in the early part of the War even had Camera's. I would be most honored if some of you in the Massachusetts area would stop by next year, and of course I will remind the board as we get closer to the opening.

Having the chance to Educate those who know little about the PT Boats, Bases, and tenders has always been my passion. I really enjoy doing it thru the artifacts that have been donated to me by PT Veterans, Families, and outside purchases. This will also be the first time that I have included John F. Kennedy and PT 109 as part of my Exhibit. It is something that the Museum has requested and I feel that it is a part of PT Boat History and one of the big reasons people can identify with the PT Boat Service. I would welcome any suggestions you might have for this upcoming Exhibit and please feel free to contact me with any photo's or items you might have to include in the Exhibit.

Hi Frank,

I can send you a set of plans for the 34 boat I drew some years ago. There are two 24" x 36" sheets. My Dad was the quartermaster and manned the starboard .300 Lewis in action.

Hi Frank,

I am on Cape cod and researching PT Boats for an upcoming exhibit--shop/ cafe -------that I will open this spring on Cape cod.

If you or anyone have info, parts--anything.. and artwork that I could use, buy, copy--it would be wonderful.

congratulations on your upcoming show.

Kind Regards,

Sorry Captain:

The previous message was a bit too short. Most of my items have been donated by the PT BOAT VETERANS and some I purchase. At the moment, I have nothing to offer you as I need all I have and then some for this up-coming Exhibit. Keep your eyes peeled on EBAY as they frequently offer art works, posters, and other iems that would dress up your Exhibit. GOOD LUCK and if you are around the SPRINGFIELD MASSACHUSETTS area from JULY until FEBRUARY, check out my Exhibit. I can get you directions if you want.

Frank,

Thank you for your speedy reply and excellent advise.

Perhaps you could find some time this winter to allow me to come up to see what you have compiled. Chances are I will find a host and wealth of information that I maybe able to adapt to my project.

My hopes are to create a scenerio that will bring to the public an informative yet entertaining version of the pacific campaigne. I have a DVD of McHales Navy and am waiting for the TV series DVD's -------to add that type of "Fun". But I know that a more historical account is more important. A combination of both is my "mission".

I encourage and welcome any comments.

Regards,

Capt D F Collatos
