Hello, I'm looking for information about my grandfaher his name as Eric B. Andrews al I know is that he was in a pt boat during the war.
I'm gathering all the information I can about him to be able to tell his great grand children and to prserve his history.
I know it probably be aot easier if I got some information from my grandmother but this is also a surprise for her and I didn't want to have her dig memories of him right now because he just passed away on Dec 29th 2009 his funeral was held on new years eve.
I'm hoping that some one that knew him or if some one can tell me where I could possibly find out any info I would apreciate it.
I just recently found out he was in the same unit as John F. Kennedy , (not in the same boat)
after his boat sank he was also in Okinawa, Iwoshima and the battle of Midway probably not in that order (sorry not very familiar with all this history)
I know it"s not much to go on but I'm trying

Near the bottom of the home page on this site under the heading "looking for records of kin" there is a link to a site where you may be able to obtain some information. Your grandfather's records should show the units to which he was attached from boot camp to discharge. The records would list any PT Squadron, base camp or tender to which he was assigned. Boat numbers are not listed. |

I failed to mention what may be the best source of information. PT Boats, Inc. has accumulated an extensive library. They can be contacted by email or telephone. |

Sorry to hear about your Grandfather. The loss of a loved one is never easy. In checking my records, I do not find anything on him, but will keep digging. Good luck in your search.............

I see an E. B. Andrews, Jr, on the list of PT Boaters. Listed as being in RON 31.
Could this be him?

Charlie is correct:
In my old files I found a E.B. Andrews as a Seaman 1/c being with Squadron (Ron) 31. I have no other information. If you find anything more, please send it to me so I can update my files. Charlie, if you read this contact me please at mosquitofleet@comcast.net

that could very well be him he was a jr he shared the same name as his father. I heard from a relative that his boat sunk during the war and then he was incorporated to some marine units that went on to Okinawa and Iwojima.
Thank you all for your continued support; I'm also trying to see if any other family members may remember anything that could help
