Ahoy Frank!

The 2-handle Tamiya Jerry cans are in the post and are coming via airmail. ETA is 1 to 1.5 weeks although lately my packages have been arriving at their destination in about one week.

Cheers from Peter

Arthur:

If I would have caught you in those days I would have thrown you into the Bay. I can imagine the sound of a bottle hitting the sides of these metal huts, must have scared the hell out of anyone inside............

Shalom Frank.

I take it from your post today that the Jerry cans have arrived okay?

Over a week ago I had two fellows tell me that they had 1/35 scale Chieftain tracks they could send me for my model that is missing its tracks. I have emailed them to find out if the tracks were shipped. Thus far there has been no reply from either of them.

If the Jerry cans have arrived safely I am really glad of it. Curiosity prompts me to ask why you used the Tamiya 2-handle cans rather than the correct 3-handle cans that Italeri makes? The only reason I can come up with is that the Tamiya ones were on hand. Is that right?

BTW, that fellow who is working near the fuel dump. Is he an ex Tamiya 25-pounder gun crewman? He sure does look like one of that gun crew figures.

Cheers and merry Christmas from Peter

Hi Pete-

The figures that you will see for the Green Island project are Tamiya US GI'S and YES German machine gunners. I got the figure sets from my favorite store HOBBY LOBBY in the clearance isle marked down to $1.47 for a set. These figures were drastically re-worked using my Dremel tool and a diamond cutter bit like the one's I sent to you.

A vast majority of the original figures clothing was removed and each of the so far 19 + custom figures have been "tropicalized" for duty in the South Pacific, meaning rolled up shirt sleeves, and rolled up pants legs or shorts with boon dockers.

The figure standing by the 55 gal. drum rack had his arms and legs re-positioned to "fit" the scene, just like all the other figures for the Green Island diorama. In fact, that figure of the officer on the fueling station, is actually a police officer figure that I purchased at the Dollar Store for 35 figures for a buck. After a little reworking and re-positioning of his arms he was perfect for the diorama. I have even gone so far as just to use the heads of the police officers with their caps to make my other officers from Tamiya figures. A little "think" out of the box is a good thing!

I have several more figures to go for the diorama as fill in figures! As for the two handle jerry cans, I had 'em and I used 'em to my best advantage. I think the fueling station came out fine and I am changing the sign for Frank A. ASAP. Lot of work to go on this thing!

I'll keep everyone posted! Merry Christmas everyone!
