I like the Q hut. Things are looking pretty good. One thing about the fuel dump...is the Warning sign really a period looking sign? Looks a little too modern. (I know, here's Charlie with another nit-pick...sorry :-) )

Charlie-

Hmmmmmmmm! Well to tell you guys the truth, I found it rummaging through my plastic bin of diorama stuff that has taken 20 years to fill. I don't have a clue where it came from but when I found it I had a light come on over my head so I went ahead and used it. The hydralic tower is entirely scratch built and the figures were given a drastic make-over. I had no second thoughts about using the sign. As long as Frank A says it's a go, then it's good enough for me.

Tell ya what let's take a vote! Who likes the sign and who doesn't? If the nays over ride the yays I'll change the sign! I think that's fair! How about it guys?

Ok so shoot me. I had some concerns over the sign from the beginning, but the darn thing looked so good, and I was so pleased with the work you did on the piece, I did not say anything. Putting these photos of the project up on the message board is a wonderful thing, because it gives the guys a chance for feedback. Hey, please dont hesitate to speak out. Thanks to Charlie, we changed the pattern on the Quonset Hut and it looks great. Now my take on the sign. I think it is a bit too modern and might be better if we changed it to a more Pacific mode type sign, crude but effective. This sign would have shown up State-side. Sorry Frank, we want this project to be dead on. Another thing for you to make. Do you want me to ship the piece back, or do you want to make the sign and ship it here for a change out. Of course, let's hear some feedback, and if you have any photos of Base signs, put um up.................

Charlie and Frank A.-

Yep, you're right on! Now that you guys brought it up it indeed looks a little quirky and out of place. It will indeed be changed out.

I had spoken to Frank A. ( one of many phone calls, and I'm certain by the time this project is over will be at least 100 or so calls ) this morning that the sign needs to be crude, weathered and base like.

I told Frank that if there is anything either he doesn't like or as a matter of fact you guys lokking at my stuff don't like, PLEASE, speak up because I'm taking what I've made as face value. If it's wrong tell me and I'll make it right!

Thank you Charlie and Frank for taking the time to correct me!

Hello Guys,

These pictures remind me of Melville where we all lived in Quonset huts. I would come in late from liberty, 2:30 AM, and toss a case of empty Coke bottles at the side of a hut.

The poor sailors sleeping in the huts thought they were under fire. Can you imagine the noise of the case and breaking bottles hiitting the metal roof/side ? It was fun to watch the angry sailors rush out and run around to find the responsible bastard. Luckily, I was never caught and I tossed many a case.

Another trick I did was to light the pot bellied stove which were used to contain papers/rubbish. This was only fun during the hot months of July and August at Melville

Hey guys don't hate me I was only 18 and dumb. Now I am 84 and still dumb.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah

You can see why I never made Admiral
Love, Arthur

Ahoy there Frank.

The fuel dump looks pretty good. Are those 2-handle Jerry cans Tamiya ones? I have close to a hundred Tamiya 2-handle Jerry cans you can have. The are from the many Tamiya SAS jeeps I have built. I replaced the Tamiya 2-hndle Jerry cans with the nicer Italeri 3-handle ones.

Let me know if you want the Tamiya Jerry cans I have.

Cheers from Peter

Pete

Thanks so much for your most generous offer. I am sure we can use them somewhere within the Diorama, and if not at least we have them on hand. You can send them to me at:

Feeding Hills, Ma. 01030

Thanks again so very much. I am sure Alex can use them..........

Ahoy there Frank.

No problem regarding the Tamiya Jerry cans. I've had these for years abd I'm glad someone can use them.

Cheers from Peter

Hi ya Peter Tare-

Yes sir, we can use the jerry cans and anything else you may have laying around. Just send them to Frank A. and he'll foward them to me and I'll put them together and paint 'em up and weather them. Glad you like my fuel depot Pete.

Hey Pete, did you get to try out those diamond Dremel bits I sent your way? Let me know how they are working out for ya!

Frank A. and I will be on the lookout for the jerry cans! Thanks for your offer to assist in the Green Island Project.

Ahoy there again Frank.

I'm glad you can use those 3-handle Tamiya Jerry cans as I have been wanting to get rid of them for years now but I didn't want to just throw them out. I only use the more accurate 3-handle Jerry cans in my dioramas.

I have finally used those bits you sent me and they are fantastic! I have a number of figure conversions planned where those bits will be a real blessing.

Cheers from Peter
