I would like to find out the number of the PT boat
my brother served on and any other information. He was somewhere in
New Guinea. His name was Robert W. Donnelly
from Yonkers.

Dear Mr. Drake
My records indicate that he served with Squadron 18. I have no other records on this man, not even a rank or boat number. The Squadron did serve in the Southwest Pacific area and was in places like Dreger Harbor, Aitape, Hollandia, Wakde, and Mios Woendi in New Guinea. I wish I could provide you with more information on this man, but it's all I have......................

I have a letter from him written from San Francisco to my dad 5/31/44
which says, ...."I am going to Yonkers now and will be there for about
8 days for leave, then back here to San Diego thence to Midshipman's
School for two years. I hope to go to Princeton or Dartmouth. Excuse
the writing please, but I'm so nervous that I'm shaking all over with
excitement." "Words can't convey my feelings now after being away
a year in Tabaga, Austrailia, New Guinea, New Britain, Admiralty's.
These are the first real streets I've seen. Everything is two foot of mud
in Guinea. So Long. Love to all. Rob
He went one semester to Princeton and graduated from Tufts.
Hope you find this of interest.
