Are the deadlites supposed to be flush with the deck? Any pictures?

Based on photos, the deadlights on an 80' ELCO are the thickness of the metal frame above the deck. On the actual boat, this is probably around 1/16" or so.

The term deadlight triggered my memory of Operation Deadlight which was the sinking of German U-Boats after the end of WW2.
