Bob and Mike;
after viewing HEAVY METAL: PT BOATS about 29 min something seconds, a nice photo of PT 167 around Jan 1944 is loading a MK 13 torpedo port side forward at either (my Guess) Rendova of Green Island. She has the same split number 167 as on your Dad's forward cabin as in the photo on Genes website.
Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving day. Mike Contact me off line please.
Take care,
TED

Thanks, Ted. I had seen that and tried to copy it but couldn't catch it on my equipment. I believe this was Rendova but can't be sure.

Bob;
I TiVo'ed it.
I thought the photo was unusual, wish I could find some 8x10's of this loading evolution. I have viewed it again since my post last night.The crew is loading a older MK8 torpedo not a MK13, onto the portside forward roll off rack. Another thing I noticed was the split 167 numbers were painted on the portside spray shield, not in the usual position on the port side cockpit armor plate.
Bob if you prefer the history channel does sell it for 24.95, or maybe some shots of this are at PTHQ. Do you remember anyone using 16 mm film camera in RON 10 at Rendova or Green? I know that PTHQ has a film(I believe its color 16mm) of Lumbari, (early taken sometime around May- Aug 1943), but it has no sound. when I was at PTHQ in 1997, they were trying to have it converted, But, I don't know if it ever was. Maybe Charlie knows?
Well take care,

Hey Guys
I have all those Films on CD. Back years ago, I was lucky to have donated several original 16MM FILMS. When I took them to have them made into CD form, most were in black and white, with no sound. I have offered in the past at least 5 or 6 CD's all dealing with the PT Boats. I also have the original 16 mm Film from DEVEL BOATS, amd GIANT KILLERS which I had made to CD. Each one I sell for $19.95 plus $5.00 Shipping/handeling. I still have the original films put away so the film does not deteriorate................

Ted,
The film you are referring to was shot at Rendova between 1/22/1944 and 1/28/1944. It is NARA film 428-NPC-1816. The NARA still photo below, 80G58576, shows the camera man filming that scene!

Ted,
I have other stills taken by the same photographer of the torpedo loading scene if you have any interest.
