Did you get the information I email you over the weekend concerning PT 279?

Kent, could you possibly email me a copy of the Ron 23 War Diary also.

My father Walter Bauer Jr, was a torpedoman in Ron 23. Although information is pretty hard to come by, from a nickname "Knightmare" he frequently mentioned, I believe he may have served on PT 277.
Unfortunately I don't know when he was with Ron 23 though. It appears last on his separation papers, so I would assume it was the latter part of the war.

Anything you could send would be helpful and very much appreciated.
My email address is wbauer@crcins.com

My grandfather Stuart A Shipley was on the 282 that night. He is alive and well and I have heard his story of that night.

Wonderful Mr. Shipley - can you ask him if he remembers James "Cheese" Herrin - a gunners mate. If possible, I would love to talk to him or email him to discuss the 282. I have a write-up I've done on that boat and aquired a few records from the archives about the incident.
Thanks!
Kent

couldn't you cast them in resin, using the model part as a master? Seems it would be the easiest way to go.

Helllo Kent Young...would you be willing to forward the RON 23 diary to me as well? I have lots of information on RON 15's ops in the Med, but not much on my grandfather's work in the Pacific. Thanks so much! stanton@sutv.zzn.com

Kent i have a liitle info for you. The records show PT-283 Destroyed on 17 March 1944. So 8 January 1944 to 17 March 1944 he may have been on PT-283. However through June of 45 ? cannot be right. The loss date is accurate. 17 March 1944. Boughganville Solomon Islands off Point Moki. The internet has two very short statements on PT-283. Friendly fire the USS Guest 472 or Japanese Naval Shore Battery Guns. This is why i joined the Team. I want to read the whole story and its fate could some of it still be classified Scott J Hilliard.

Kent, Forgive me for having a little chuckle when I read your statement stating that RS Boston may have been a Receivng ship that returned your dad to the states
RS Boston meant Receiving Station in Boston. It was the Fargo Buildong, If I remember correctly, it wasn't too far from South Station(railroad station)
When I was returned to the states for a leave, after my 30 days was up I was sent to Melville for a couple of days and then sent to the Fargo Building.
Much to my surprise, I had met some of the original crew from my boat that I was a replacement for.
The place was overflowing with PT sailors. I thought, OH Boy, I'm going to be here for quite some time. No such luck. The navy startted clearing outthese "boarders". I came aboard just before Christmas, I was there for only two months and then I got a free train ride to the receiving station in Shoemaker Calif.,..On ST Patrick's day I was about to get another free ride on a transport , while getting an Irish "Goodbye" from some navy band ashore playing Macnamara's Band as the crew was throwing off the lines that tied us to the dock. I set foot ashore in Ormoc, in the Philippines.
I hope this helps you in your quest for information.

Russ

kent, I got a little chuckle when I read your post stating that RS Bost
