Today is a nice sunny day with no threat of rain. Therefore, I decided to fly my old forty-eight star flag, an old cotton 2x3 flag. I cannot remember when it was last displayed, but 11 11 11 11 is a good time.

I have an old 48 star tattered flag that flew over PT167 for many months of wartime action. I have framed it in a waterproof frame and it hangs proudly on my front porch. Since it was given to me by my crewmates when I returned to the states, I value it more than a medal of honor.

Bob: I had one that flew on the 242. The strips were whipped down to about 1/2 as long as original. Several years ago I gave it to Boats Newberry for the museum. I guess they have it down there somewhere.

I have several Battle Flags that were donated to my Exhibit. One from PT-191, One from PT-330, One from PT-213, and two Commissioning Pennants, one from PT-536, and one from PT-213. I love to display them in the Exhibit. I have them framed, and they look very nice...........

From the Flag Code; "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning."

I consider my flag to be a fitting emblem of display.

QM

Is your Flag from your Boat, and if I understood your message correctly are you considering burning it? Please do not so that. I would prefer you donate it to my Exhibit first, so I can properly frame it...........

I suppose all flags that flew over active PT boats quickly became in a "burn" condition. However replacement flags were very scarce. I think any flag that endured in ANY condition should be preserved.
