Hi all...

I just got through uploading some new items on the website, with more to come in the following days (as soon as I can tame the beast called HTML--the code that makes stuff posted to the Internet happen, for all the non-computer types...)

There's a new front page--something that I had already been mulling about well before the closure of Geocities)--as well as updates in the 'Mystery PT's' section (with a colorized photo of the PT 39 crew, circa December 1942), and a Coming Soon tab, showing some photos recently obtained from PT Headquarters and the National Archives. Never mind the formatting--it's still a work in progress; just click on an image and it will take you to a larger one.

Items to come in the next few weeks will be an article about the Mark VIII torpedo; the PTC's; Scouting Detachment Ringbolt, which were the aerial eyes of the Guadalcanal PT's after December, 1942; updates to the Early PT Radar section, with new pictures of PT 28; an update in the PT Research section, with directions on how to get into the Naval Historical Center; photos of MTB Squadron 31; and a documents section.

All the best,

Gene K.

I enjoyed looking at the pictures on your website. Today is the first time that I have seen it. I hope to see more when time is available. May I make one comment? The gunners mate patch on your home page is apparently a post WWll patch which was made for the left arm.

Thanks for the update! That's the first time I've seen that photo of Mr. Keresey's 105 boat like that. It looks like the cabins and torpedo tubes have all been spray painted light gray. The deck is also not the dark color I would have expected to see at this point in its life. The color around the hull numbers looks like the original color left alone. I wonder if they primed this boat prior to shipping it to Panama? It certainly doesn't seem like they are planning to paint them . I've also heard they were painted green in Panama but don't know for sure on that one. Do you or does anyone have any thoughts about that?

Mr. Keresy told me that to the best of his knowledge the boat was always gray but others have indicated that it was green while in the Solomons. Other pictures of the 103 and 107 boats are all green there.

Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them.
Dave
