Ihave been away for awhile, I am in the Pacific Islands investigating as many PT Boat Bases that I ca n find and also I have been diving on PT Boats that I have info where they were sunk. I am on my catamaran with my brother. We have been videoing the whole project.I plan to be back by the end of the year. I will edit the video then. I am sorry for not responding to my messages. This project is time consuming. When video is edited, anyone who wants a copy just let me know.

Is there any chance you might be diving on PT 493 which was sunk in the Battle of Surigao Strait? This is something my four brothers and I always wanted to do...my father was Lt. R.W. Brown, captain of PT 493. |

Hello Frank,
It's been a long time but I think I accomplished what I wanted to do over here so far. I did dive on some PT Boat wrecks that we were able to get to with our diving gear and and also with our remote camera. There are two PT wreck sites we are looking for and that should complete our research for now. When we get back to the states with our boat and get a little rest, we will start editing and examining the results. .when completed I will send you a copy of everything for exhibit and for your records. We Got written permission to investigate all this from the governments where we were. Bill

We will be doing some diving but mostly with a deep sea camera on at least 1 or 2 PT boats in the area. We won't be doing the 109. We do have the location where they were sunk but it might take some time to find them if possible. One of the boats is your fathers PT 493 but it's always a slim chance that we will actually find it. Do to water depth we will have to rely on sonar and our cameras to find it. Hopefully we will. Will Keep you informed of our progress.

Hi Bill,
This is Don Bown, Bill Browns brother and son of the captain of PT 493. I have the lat long of where the 493 went down in about 85 feet of water. I also have pictures of it going down that can give you referrnce points such as a church in the background.
She went down with 12 samurai swords that my father had in the bilges. She also had 100 cases of beer that was just given them by a doctor friend of my fathers from a Supply Ship. They had a hard time storing all the beer in the bilges.
If you give me your email address I will send you the pictures. My address is Donaldbrw@aol.com
Regards
Don Brown

Are you in the Phillipines? PT 300 was sunk in Mangarin Bay off the coast of Mindoro Island. I can send you the lat. and long. if you are in that area.
Sounds like fun where ever you are!

Thanks Colleen, Please send me the position of the PT300. That's our last stop before sailing my catamaran back to the US. We May not find it but it's a 50-50 chance of success. Bill Manley

How exciting! Here are the coordinates. It is in or near Mangarin Bay.
I have had one contact from the people at Pacific Wrecks, but never heard if they found any information on the wreck or not.
I read a description that the boat burned for several hours before it sunk, so it might have drifted. All the bodies were found; I don't know how deep that bay is.
Thank you so much! Please keep me posted!
