For those interested I just found this site: http://www.lpb.org/programs/thewar/stories.htm
go down to: Louisiana’s World War II Veteran John Iles
Johnny was at one time Dick Kersey's Exec on PT 105(starting on page 120, he later succeeded Kersey as skipper of 105), earlier in the Russells, skipper of PT 48, while Ken Prescott was skipper of PT 61.
The interview states he went to Europe sp I am guessing on this, that he was assigned to Bob Searles RON 30, since most of the boat captains in the other European squadrons are well documented.
now if I can just find an address on him, I will write him ASAP, the video I think was recorded in 2007.
take care,
TED

Hi Ted, thanks for sharing that site with us. I tried to open the Louisiana veteran media player, but couldn't open it. Anyway, since the lead-in to it mentioned he was from Shreveport, I think I've found the right man:
John L Iles. Jr.
7634 Chesapeake Dr.
Shreveport, LA 71105-5434
(318) 798-1137
