G'day Fellas,
Ive just recieved my Grandfathers complete USN service papers from a gentleman in the States, Joey Kelly who was kind enough to visit the repository and photograph them for me.Unfortunately there was no photo of him to compare with a photo sent to me by Don Patch of NSD 717,who answered my post in ALL HANDS.
Ive included the summary for interest and a photo of the man i believe to be my Grandad.
Another question i have is,in the 4th line what is (Com MTB RONS,Seventh Fleet) from 17th April to 15th June 1944?Would that have been a ship or a base station?
I know you blokes (most of you know my story) are probably sick of me on this board,but i just need to know my Grandfather .
Cheers Guys

Micheal;
COMMTBRONS SEVENTH FLEET was originally, CDR Morton C. Mumma USN he was later relieved by CDR. Selman S. Bowling USN on 8 Feb 1944 his flagship was USS Oyster Bay (APG-6). His command was of all bases in 7th fleet jurisdiction area(New Guinea and later Phillipines). During the time frame you listed MTB RONS 7, 6, 8, 9,10,12,18,21,24, 25,and 33 along with USS Mobjack (APG-7), USS HILO(APG-2) AND PORTUNUS(APG-20).
Take care,
TED

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you .
Thanks Ted
but i still dont understand,he was assigned to ComMTBRons,Seventh Flt for 2 months as a F1c.Where was he in this time in between MTB base 6 and MTB base 4?Do you think he was on one of the AGP's,if so why doesnt it say that?
Unless he was relieving CDR. Bowling's command (just kidding)
More military paperwork riddles!
