Ahoy there mates!

I was looking at some old 1/72 scale Airfix armour kits I have here and saw that the 40mm Bofors gun and quad tractor was less than $8.00 Cdn. With a bit of work it could be used as the stern gun on a 1/72 scale PT boat. You even get a British 3 man gun crew with it plus an extra seated figure as the driver. Change out the helmets and the figures could pass for crewmen for the PT boat. The driver can also be used in one of the .50 calibre gun tubs. So, if you would like a 40mm Bofors for your 1/72 scle PT boat the Airfix kit could be an option for you. Besides, it's styrene and easily assembled and painted.

Cheers from Peter

Peter,

I agree, the Airfix 40mm is a good choice.

Will,

Who manufacturers the PT crew members, I can not find these on the squadron website. I assume the 37mm is from White Ensign Models, they also make the mk 13 torpedo and rack. Nice stuff.

Yeah Will,

I'd like to know where Squadron lists their 1/72nd scale 37mm and PT crewmen. Could always use some 1/72nd scale PT crewmen, for my future 109.

My 37mm will probably be a Roco Mini-Tanks piece, though...

Go to the squadron signal website, select SEARCH, and enter PT BOAT on the appropirate line. It will give you everything from the Italeri 1/35th boat to figures from Warrior, etc.
