Ahoy, shipmates! Thought I would introduce myself. Name is Ralph Duran, retired Master-at-arms CPO (1974-1995). I have always loved the PT's since I was kid and learned about the 109 boat. My uncle, Henry Tellez (now deceased) was a Seabee in the PTO and would love to tell us nephews about his adventures and his encounters with the Peter Tares. I enlisted in the NAVY because of him and made it my career. Too late to serve aboard the devil boats but love them just the same. When I graduated from A school back at NTC San Diego,(1974) my "dream sheet" was PBR's but the Navy in its infinite wisdom sent me to the USS Enterprise CVN-65 and my fate was sealed to serve in bird farms for the majority of my career. I am very proud and honored that you have seen fit to allow me to join this board. Anchors aweigh and godspeed!!!

Welcome aboard Chief! (from one Chief to another)
I agree with you, this board is really great for all the expertise and sharing of stories and everything else. Except for the occasional spat between agreeing which is the best boat: Higgins or Elco (I say Higgins!) we are all pretty freindly here. The group I am in has been directly helped numerous times by members of this board, so I think your contributions will be very well recieved. Hope to hear more from you soon. Take care.

Thanks again to all for a great welcome! Its been awhile since I've been around and/or talked to some "old" salts. I miss my NAVY, well, sometimes Anyway, hope to add my $.02 once in awhile....if nothing else, might give the devilboaters a chuckle or 10! Hearty hand-salute to you all!

Thats OK after all you were on the Big E. Once an Enterprise sailor, Always an Enterprise sailor. The most awesome ship in the NAVY Big E!! I will always be in awe of that ship. It still is the fastest carrier ever built. Jerry
