Hi there.
For something different on your PT boat model I thought I'd let everyone know that the Maxon quad fifty calibre machine gun mount is available as a very detailed 1/35 scale styrene kit from Dragon Models. Here is a link to a review of this kit: http://tiny.cc/Yyilp or http://www.modelshipwrights.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=4167

This is a beautiful kit, but it cannot be used on the 1/35 Italiari boat without extensive modification to the boat. The boats that mounted the Maxon were of the older PT 103 class.

Hi Steve.
I was aware that the quad fifty mount was on the older class of 80' Elcos. Some modellers *HAVE* backdated the Italeri kit to represent the earlier 103 class of boat. Maybe Italeri *WILL* release a model of the early 103 class of 80' Elco. There have been rumours of that circulating on the web.
Cheers from Peter

One of the skilled model makers who frequent the "Sixth Division," a website for WWII military figure hobbyists, is making a 1/6th-scale quad-.50 mount. You can check out his work so far on the inner machinery of the mount at:
