Looking for members of PT-323 (Squadron 21) who participated in a mission in support of the Alamo Scouts at Pegun Island (Mapia Group 125 miles east of Biak) with PT 190 and the USS El Paso on 22-24 August 1944.
Does anybody know if the crew of PT-323 are still around?
Just to note: On 10 November, 1944, while on patrol at Leyte Gulf, PT-323 was cut almost in half by a Kamikaze. The boat was beyond repair. LTJG Herbert Stadler, the boat captain, was killed; ENS William I Adelman, the second officer, was missing; 11 men were wounded. PT-327, under the command of LT Ken Sharpe, picked up the survivors. One of the survivors of the attack was, Torpedoman's Mate 2nd Class Richard "Dick" Lowe.

Does anybody know if Richard "Dick" Lowe is still alive and how may I contact him?

Hello Russ,
Yes Dick Lowe is still around! I know/have met at least one other crewman (who was a Motor mac) is still around from the 323 boat. If you email me (see my profile) I can give you Dicks phone number. Dick is the acting Treasurer of the Save the PT Boat Inc Non Profit Organization. If you ask him he may have the contact info of that other crewman too, I met him at the Spokane Wa 2007 PT Boats Inc. reunion. Hope to hear from you soon! Jerry

I got to speak with one of the crewman that was aboard PT-323 at the time of the Alamo Scouts mission on Pegun Island. His name is Harry Alexander, lives in Florida. He was also onboard during the Kamikaze attack that cut the boat in half. He was firing at the plane with his 20mm antiaircraft gun from the bow of the PT, the plane hit the helm and blow him into the water. The war ended for Harry that day. They had already shot down 9 Kamikazes before the one got through. What a story!
Kat, I will email you Harry's contact information so you can ask him if he remembered your father.
