As I write this to you in the wee hours of the morning, I do so with a heavy heart. My dear friend, Wallace M. McNeish passed away roughly 5 hours ago. He was perhaps my best friend, more like a Grandfather really, and I shall miss him very much.
Wallace served with Ron 27 as Gunners Mate 1/c on PT 374, whre his crew nicknamed him Mickey. I called him this for many years. He lived a wonderful life and accomplished more then the average guy. Mick worked hard as a member of the CCC Camps from the age of 14, served his Country in the US NAVY, started his own siding business, built his home with his very two hands, and had a 14 acre apple farm for many years of his life. I never knew anyone with better work habits. He knew several weeks before he died, that he would be making his last patrol, but only worried about his Family, and the apple Farm.
I am in hopes that some of you might send a card to his wonderful partner for the last 30 years. She was wonderful to him, especially these past few months, and I know Mick's 2 daughters would love to hear from some of you PT Boat Sailors. Here is the address you can send them. Thanking you guys in advance..................

Frank-
My condolences to you and to Mickey's family. We mourn the loss of every PT veteran making their last patrol. Clearly he was fond of you and greatly appreciated both your friendship and your sincere interest in his PT service. Fair winds and following seas, Mickey.

I wanted to take the time to thank you guys for sending a card out to the Family. Mickey's family contacted me today to say they have gotten several cards from PT Boaters and friends of mine. Thanks again to all of you guys who responded. It means a great deal to me............

Frank, I read this a little late, but you have my deepest sympathy. We are losing our shipmates fast.
Today is Independence Day. I, and I'm sure everyone on this board are grateful for all the servicemen and women who sacrafice so much for the freedom of all America. I can understand first hand what they go through.
.I shall send a card
