I try to make a few people happy but I see wasn't worth it. and I see what you mean in the long run. I don't have any problems. but a side note: Turner movies is a subsidiary owned by Warner Bros. and the WB distriution is done by Ryko also owned by Warner bros. and it was out but not in stores taken back as with many other dvd's music rights is alway's a problem. and please tell me where I can get dvd burner that can burn a 2 hour disc in 6 mins. ray p signing off now. goodluck to you all. |

Turner Classic Movies has the rights to this movie. Are you affiliated with them?

Probably not...I'd bet they're bootleg copies. Nothing definite, just a hunch...

I dont think I would be interested in buying bootleg copies, which you know is the case. Warner Brothers never released the movie for CD use. Not sure how the rest of you guys feel.

Ray, many would like to have this on DVD. But not at the risk of getting busted of buying a pirated movie. And that is exactly what you are doing, selling a pirated movie. Not only that, you give a traceable e-mail address.
I doubt your motives, you claim you are losing money. A blank DVD can be had for 20 cents. I can burn one in 6 minutes. They are cheap to ship, a few bucks at the most. Let's say 10 minutes each out the door at $5 profit. Good money there.
The rest of your post sounds like a cheap sales ad: "Free to the first lucky customer!" "Get your friends to buy, give a good review!". These statements are also at odds with your claims of doing us a public service at a loss.
Just wanted to explain why I'm what you call a "nay sayer". I think you put us at risk of a visit from a RIAA representative for buying stolen goods.
If you want to explain the errors of my logic feel free. If you get evil I'll see what Turner, and the RIAA, think about it.

Jeff D and ray p, I've got a few questions for you both...
Jeff, I'm interested in how you've come by your information that Turner Classic Movies "owns the rights" to the theatrical film "PT 109."
Although I do seem to remember TCM running "PT 109" in the past, showings of the film on that channel are very few and very far in-between (if indeed they've ever broadcast it more than once). If TCM owned the rights to "PT 109" as one of the titles in their vast (mainly MGM) film library, they've -- oddly -- been unusually stingy with programming and showing it over the years. Since TCM has to fill a programming schedule seven days a week, 365 days a year, year in and year out, I would think they'd run the film a little more often if they "owned the rights."
Also, TCM has been instrumental in getting hundreds of obscure films released onto DVD in the past, but, again, as far as I know, no official DVD release of "PT 109" has been realized yet. The film is still listed on the TCM website as one that can be voted for online by viewers for a future DVD release. If TCM owns the rights, why haven't they released it on DVD yet? There may be "a low demand' for the film, but certainly no lower than the many dozens of obscure films TCM has gotten released on DVD already.
ray p, you state the film was "released on DVD in late 2002 and for low sales was taken out of distribution and returned to...distributor. It was the letterbox edition with voiceover (commentary?) by Cliff himself." This information, to me, is straight out of the blue and difficult to believe, as I've been waiting and watching for an official DVD release of "PT 109" for years. If the film WAS officially released on DVD in 2002, it had to have come and gone incredibly quickly, in, and then out, of selected retail outlets with absolutely no publicity, advertising or wide release. None of the major retailers in the Cincinnati, Ohio area where I live EVER carried it, nor did I ever see it listed for purchase or order in national video catalogs or online. The film WAS released several times on video tape in both the VHS and Beta formats, first in a standard version double-cassette in one of the "Warner Bros. 'Night At The Movies'" series, which included a newsreel, a cartoon, and previews from 1963, the year of the film's release, then as a single cassete, in both the standard and widescreen (letterbox) versions. The only "voiceover" by Cliff Robertson that existed on these versions was in the theatrical trailer for the film included on the widescreen version, in which Robertson, dressed in uniform as JFK, introduces and narrates the preview.
So, guys -- where did you come up with your info?

Drew, I assumed they own the distribution rights. And yes I know the joke about the word "assume". Forgive me if I'm wrong. I also assumed ray p doesn't or he would have said so.
