I thought I would chime in with a quick update on the status of BUILDING THE PT BOATS by Frank Andruss. This illustrated volume is nearing completion, with well over a hundred full-page photographs that Frank has done a beautiful job of scanning in high-resolution.

When Frank told me that it was about "building:" the boats, I have to admit that I was a bit worried that pictures of factories and workmen would not be that exciting. I could not have been more wrong. I have learned a *heck* of a lot about PT boats from this particular book. With the dozens of close ups of every aspect of the boats, it's almost like being on board one.

Very exciting! should be out some time this summer.

P.S. at what point do I cease to be merely a publisher and become a fellow PT boat afiicionado? I am not sure, but i must be getting near that point, since I can tell you, with enthusiasm, the exact number of Elco PT boats manufactured during WWiI; when Elco stopped using PLEXIGLAS(tm) on its boats, and why; and the name and number of the Higgins PT boat that was sold to Finalnd in 1940, but never reached it...
