Thanks to message board I discovered Photobucket and enjoyed all the
wonderful PT boat pictures. Three questions: 1. Where is the caption
for some of the pictures? 2. Where is the name of the contributor?
I saw the word COMMENT under each picture. Comment for what?
I hope someone can answer these questions.

Hello Victor,
The pictures on PTBOATS photobucket website were posted there by various people.
If there is not a Name or Caption associated with each photo, it is because some people did not bother to explain what the photo is showing when they uploaded it to the photobucket website. I usually try to add a little explanation to every photo that I personally haved posted on there, but it is not a requirement, just a common courtesy.

Next, the thing that says "Comments: 0" is simply telling you that nobody has added a comment about the picture. I just tested it out. If you click right there where it says "Add your own comment" it opens up a little box that allows you to type in your personal comment concerning the photograph. Then you hit "Post" and the number changes from 0 to 1, since you just added a comment to that photo file. THen you can see the comment you just posted right below the picture.

I hope this is helpful. Jerry PT658 Portland OR

Hi Jerry,
Thank you for your reply on Photobucket. Your answer is clear, precise,
easy to understand, and most of all answered all my questions. You
just won the best writing award for the year.

OK, this sounds stupid, since I've visited and posted on this Board for several years now, but...

How do I access Photobucket to see the PT Boats, Inc. photos?

I never have, and don't know how -- help!

If you just wish to view the photos click the link below:

http://s130.photobucket.com/albums/p249/ptboats/

and navigate around the "ptboats" images and albums.

If you wish to post some photo, you can just add the photos to the main general area. Or if you look to the left side margin of the main page you will see a column titled "Albums". There you can create your own album and upload photos or view other albums members have added to the "ptboats" section. However if you wish to upload photos you have to first click the "Login" button and log-in as:

Username: ptboats
Password: ww2pts

If you wish to learn how to post photos on this message board. Look at the top of this web page and you will se a link in blue type:
"CLICK HERE Download Photo Posting Instructions CLICK HERE"
just click on it and a word .doc file will download to your computer.

or click on the link below:

http://www.ptboats.org/PhotoLinks.doc

Hope this helps,

Victor:

The PhotoBucket site has generally been used just as a tool to be able to upload photos for posting to this Message Board. For images to be displayed on this message board they have to exist somewhere on the internet (not in your computer) and be linked to the message board. The PhotoBucket just happens to be the site I setup for everyone to use as this tool. That could be the reason not a lot of photos have much if any attached descriptive data. Some individuals use other photo-sharing sites or their own personal website within their own control. The PhotoBucket site is just convenient.

- - - - and don't even think about whom own what copyrights on these photos. For the most part they were taken by the military, hence NO copyright. Other sources may be individual PT boater's them self. hence probably no formal copyright exists. Just because someone has a print in his or her presents does not allow anyone to claim copyright. Unless it is their very own intellectual property or they purchased and legally transferred the copyright ownership to themselves and can prove it with a written receipt or document of transfer of ownership. All should remember, just because someone might have given you the prints or said you can use them or said they give you copyright – YOU DO NOT OWN the copyright unless you have a written document describing the photos and transferring legal ownership to you.

Hi Dick,
Thanks for your information on photobucket and copyright. It is clear
and well written. So you are not only a great graphic artist but an
excellent writer too. Keep up the good work Frankly I don't see where
you find the time to do all these neat things.
God bless,
Victor

Thanks, Victor . . .

I just wish I had more time to spend on these beautiful boats they are a real passion, specially digging down deep through all the engineering drawing. Allowing me study, analyze and find all the detailed configurations and history of the changes.

Lately, or for at least the last seven or eight months and to continue for the next couple of months my nose has been held pretty close to the grid stone as I write and illustrate two technical manuals for the Air Force. One is an Operation and Maintenance manual while the other is a Training Guide manual for a new set of wrap-around multi-level maintenance stand for the KC-135 (air refueling tanker). These docking systems will allow air force technicians to completely strip down the entire aircraft and repair, upgrade and rebuild the entire airframe, wings, engines and vertical stabilizer. These proud planes have been flying since the 1957 and are still performing vital tasks of refueling America’s flying forces every day for the last 50+ years.

I’ve been a little lazy lately but will get around sending you and email soon. Hope you are staying healthy and taking care. Also best wishes to your daughter.
