I am looking for pictures of PT 302. I was the QM on PT 302 in the Med and have a lot of pictures of other boats taken from the 302 . Plus, I was probably sea sick at the time and to this day, I do not own a camera.
What I am saying, it is difficult to take pictures of your own boat while underway. My email is arthurfrongello@yahoo.com.
Hey fellow sailors, we sure are a vanishing breed. I am grateful for this site for how it saves the memories of these small wooden boats and crews.
Little know fact is the Japanese were ready to surrender when they heard that Ron 22 fresh from the Europe was on the way to the Pacific. We could have saved the "bomb."
What the hell, with the war over, I went back to my 3rd year of high school and graduated two years later. The war was easier.
When I joined PT 302, I was 18 and looking back it sure was a great "ride." I still say that if the war lasted long enough I would have made Admiral.
God bless you all.

Arthur;
That is the stuff that made your generation and my Fathers great, a total sense of purpose, dedication to duty, a good sense of humor, and looking upon every challenge as a new adventure!
Take care,
Ted

Hi Arthur,
I found these by doing a search and had some that I collected over the last few years. I hope they are of interest to you. Jerry PT 658 crew

Hey guys,
Thanks for the pictures.
By the way, the Enlisted Sailors uniform was copied from the English .
Three white stripes on jumper (piping) three great naval battles won for England by Lord Nelson.
Two white stars on jumper. King and Queen of England.
Thirteen buttons on ramp, Represent 13 original colonies.
Bell bottoms so the pants could be rolled up to keep clean while washing the decks and they pants would not chook you. Bell bottoms could be filled with air and used as flotation aids.
Seams pressed on inside of uniform to keep material from getting shiny.
Jumpers were designed to discouage sailors for getting pot bellies.
You could wash the uniform in a bucket of water, let dry, and press and be fresh for liberty. I use to get my white piping changed every other month. I had an iron and would press uniforms for twenty five cents.
Here is the kicker, the German Navy uniform was also copied from the English with the piping, bell bottoms, and stars.
Just some Navy trivia. Maybe you can add to this ?

Arthur,
Do you recognize any of these pictures I posted? I spent several hours working on that for you. I was just curious if you see anybody in them that you may know. I found them by looking at the Internet Archive http://web.archive.org/collections/web/advanced.htmlfor the old PT309.org website. Their website is no longer functional. I was lucky they still had some able to be retrieved. Hopefully it was not all for naught.
Cheers!

Arthur, You and some of your friends are in Volume 8 of my books, "The Ship Killers'. I got the photo from Frank Andruss, Sr. That is just about my favorite photo of the thousands of MTB photos I have. You laughing your head off while deathly sea-sick is just a great shot.
I tried to find as many phots as possible showing the human side of MTB warfare and the pickings are slim. Too much attention has been paid to a lot of wood and guns and not enough oon the men who served. My hat is off to you Sir for your daring and humor. Thanks you for all you did.
I'll talk to my publisher and see if I can get a copy of Volume 8 for you when it comes out. It could be July or August I believe.
Again thank you. I tried the email address you posted on your message but it will not go through.
My Kinds Regards,
Joe Hinds

Joe Hinds,
My email is arthurfrongello@yahoo.com
My phone is 407 926 8389.
Maybe I slipped a letter or two when I gave you my Email the last time.
You know, I never got over being sea sick. The crew helped out and when I was looking for sympathy, they just laughed. Hell, they made me laugh.
Hey, I would love a copy of your book. Maybe we can go on Oprah ? I missed out on being an Admiral now maybe I can be a star.
Sincerely, Arthur
