In my researching for MTBSTC, I came across the document that identified the enlisted rates that are assigned to MTB Squadrons. The number and types of rates are dependent on how many boats you have in teh squadron. Hopefully the pictures will come out so you can read them.

Thank you for posting the above numbers. It is interesting reading. Apparently my timing in joining the squadron was fortunate because I was able to advance to first class with minimum time in each rate. Most of the original crew was heading home by the time that I was eligible for first class.

The total personnel for a twelve boat squadron must have been about 220 with officers. There were more enlisted men on the base force than I would have guessed.

My Dad was an Electricians Mate 2nd Class. According to this Manning Chart only 1 EM2C was needed for every 4 boats. What were his duties specifically? Did he have a choice as to what boat he would go out on?

I could never get a straight answer out of my dad. One day he would say that he would go out on different boats, the next day he said he was mostly on the 525 boat.

Does anyway have any rosters or logs from any boats in RON 36? I would like to know more.

Gary

I knew a gentlemen who was with Ron 27 as an Electricians Mate. He would go out on a few boats, but was never attached to a crew. He was on Base Force, then part of the USS Varuna. He once told me that he would go out to check any problems with Electrical circuts, and to make sure the Batteries were charging. Any large scale defects would be handled at the Base. From what he told me, he was never a part of a PT BOAT CREW. Could this be the same with your Dad and his role. I just dont recall any Electricians Mates being a part of the overall Crew.
