Here is a great sound file from the movie PT-109. Its about 11 - 12 minutes into the movie where the two motor macs are getting ready to test the engines they have been working on - I apologize for a little interference on the sound file. I copied the movie from a 13 - 15 year old VHS recording I made from TV to Macintosh. The VHS quality was pretty bad.

SEE LINK BELOW . . .

Hope you enjoyed, I love that sound, however not sure how true to life the actual pt sound from the movie is . . .

One of my favorite parts of the movie, and yes those certainly were Packard marine Engines being started. I know this because I have an original script from the Movie. In the Script, they call for very strict rules on fueling and starting the boats. Former Motor macs were on hand to lend their expertise to care of the engines.

Can't open the sound file, but the engine room scene that it's taken from, with Clyde Howdy playing Leon Drawdy and Norman Fell portraying Ed Drewitch, is one of my favorites from "PT 109."

Oh, for an "official" Warner Bros. DVD release of this film!

My wish is for a "flip-disc" DVD, with the widescreen version on one side and a fullscreen version on the other -- and only because the (less-desirable) fullscreen version sometimes shows a wealth of close-up detail you can't see (as closely) in the widescreen version.

Come on, Warner Bros. Home Video! What are you waiting for?

Depending on how browser is configured and what operating system you are using can be quite frustrating when trying to download or play many items, so I've included a direct link below.

Here is a direct link to the sound files:

Hi there.

I used to have a micro-cassette recorder and on it I recorded the sounds of the 109 running and of the guns firing from that movie. I used to have a about one minute of blank tape before the sound started. It sounded great when the model PT boat was out on the water and the sound started.

Cheers from Peter
