Hi Frank,
I am so thrill that your book BUILDING THE PT BOATS will be out soon.
You picked a good subject that was never covered properly. Who is
your publisher?
Thanks for your kind words about my authorship. I just used Al Ross's
book ALLIED COASTAL FORCES as the standard. His drawings are
so awesome that only Dick Washichek can match. We sure have some telented guys as member of the message board.
I agree with you that I won't do another book again at my age. However,
I designed my first book so that I can always add more materials in during
the second printing. This is what I am working on now. This gives me a purpose in life. It does not matter that we will never reach our ultimate goal: the effort yields its own rewards.

Thanks for the Kind words Victor. You are right, although it can be a super effort to do a book, I did find it a rewarding. It was a challange for me, never having done a book before, but I did the best I could. My publisher is Nimble Books, and I am looking forward in seeing the Gally copy soon. As far as another book, I guess one can never say never. I was thinking about doing a pictorial about my hometown during the War years. It would cover those who served from WW1 right up to the present.
My uncle served with the 2cond Marine Division during WWII and was killed at 19 years of age on Sipan, 1944. I have pictures of him on leave, which kind of gave me the idea. I thought about how the Town looked during those days and thought it might be fun. We shall see. There is another fellow on this message board that has been working a long time on trying to put together a book on the MTBSTC. I hope he gets that done soon. I think that is another untouched subject.

About 5 years ago my father was interviewed by a gentleman from British Columbia concerning his PT boat experiences during WWII. I'm not sure who he was. Dad can't remember his name either. Any ideas who it might have been?

Thank you for the many kind words. I have just today finished Volume 8 and I am tired. It's been most of a year to get this far. Heck, it took two years to find a publisher. Each volume requires photos,maps, portraits, posters, and captions along with whatever else. They each take about one hour.
It is true when somebody says , "Nobody writes history for money". There isn't any money out there for this work. But then that is not why I do it. I just love small boats.
At least, unlike many authors, I do not have to worry about who will star in the movie version. thank God it's not a toss up between Tom Cruise and Ben Afleck. There both a couple of gay boys anyway.

Howdy, No one volume is dedicated to anybody. This started out as a fair and measurable account of the MTB's from all over the world and in time frames from the 1200's to 1945.
This is not another endless list of boats that went nowhere or did nothing. This is a collection of about 1,100 little stories. It does not nor ever meant to be a salute to PT boats. There has been a world of that. It is about MTB boat men every for every age.
There is no room in this type of effort for favoritism. There were many MTB's that could and did outperform the PT's s of WWII. Before you go Bat Shit over this please understand this- I was a Marine for 5 years in 1965 to 1970, a sailor on carriers from 1972 to 1980 and again as a reserve sailor from1990 to1996. That means I was in two wars. Viet Nam and Desert Shield and Desert Shield.
Son how many wars were you in?
The second part is this-I spent ten+years collecting, verifying, and and (very carefully) substantiating each of the 1,100+ entry's. This means I can back up every single damned entry with at least two sources and in many cases 3 or more sources.

Excuse me sir, the next time you post a message on this board – check your ego at the door.
You have clearly not understood this website. This site is about American made PT Boats (yes, MTB’s - Motor Torpedo Boats) of World War II, and yes this site does favor those boats. As well as the thoughts, stories, boat fact and recollections of the veteran sailors and officers that served on, repaired and supported these boats. Including the second and third generations PT Boaters, modelers, historian, enthusiasts who spend countless hours digging into the facts, stories, drawings, writing books, publishing articles, creating paintings, drawing plans, producing artwork, building models from scratch or kits, merely, I repeat merely for their love of the PT and the service.
We, all thank you for your military service, war time or not, but don’t think for one minute there aren’t those “Sons” on this site who weren’t in the military services, or those who weren’t put in to harm’s way with one, two, or more wars and/or military conflicts for their country. For those who didn’t serve in the military and/or didn’t participate in armed conflict doesn’t mean their love of country, honor, pride or patriotism is any less then yours or less appreciated by all.
